Question about Televison & Video

RCA DLP HD50LPW166 Works fine for 15sec

My DLP turns on fine, looks and sounds good, then after 15 sec. the picture dies and the power button flashes 5 times. Then the picture slowly comes back for another 15 secs and repeats. I've pulled the lamp out and checked everything and blew it out with some air but it wasn't really that dirty. (its only 18mon old) I di hear the wheel turn on when the picture first comes on.

Will a Lamp really fix it? Its seems the lamp work fine for a quick period.

Same Problem here. After some investigating and speaking with one Lamp supplier they told me to replace the Lamp Ballast first (this is mine EUC 120 P/H11 9137 008 09405). I found one on Ebay. Since this may also wear out the bulb, I may have to replace that also. If I can get my TV working (HD50LPW166YX6) for around $150.00 for both, I'll be happy even if i get only 6 month of use out of it. Did I mention the TV was free? :o) Hope this helps.

Really Grainy low quality pictures with my new camera.

Try shooting with ISO value of 200 or less; or set to "Auto".

If you're missing the manual, you can get it in English, here. Page 76 briefly discusses ISO settings. This camera can select an ISO as high as 1600. ISO has to do with graininess of film - the higher the number - the more grainy the images. Higher ISOs are selected when light levels are low and no flash is used or is usable (such as when the subject is too distant). Some photographers use higher ISO settings with high shutter speeds to stop fast moving objects (like wheels on a race car). The grainier the film, the quicker it captures light. Fime grained film takes longer to capture light.

Generally, pictures taken outdoors in sunshine look best when ISO is 100 or less. 100 is a good choice for well lit indoor pictures, too; but may be better with an ISO of 200. ISO works like this:

If a picture can be properly exposed with an ISO of 100 in 1/15 sec, it would require only 1/30 sec at ISO 200, or 1/60 sec at ISO 400. When you double the ISO value, the exposure times are halved. What's the big deal about 1/15sec, 1/30 or 1/60 sec you might ask? Easy! the picture will probably be blurry at 1/15 and even 1/30 sec exposure time, due to the camera recording even the slightest movement of your hands. You'll need to supply a tripod or do something else (such as increase the size of the opening of the aperture or f-stop) to get a properly exposed image.

I hope this helped - if it isn't an ISO problem - let me know. Good luck!

I have the same problem on my rca serial# hd50lpw166

It seems more to be an issue with your ballast, of course this is if you replaced the lamp before, but regarding the clicking sounds it's most probable to be your ballast. discountdashmerchantdotcom, the ballast aren't that expensive, they're around 60 dlls

My RCA Scenium 50in. is not turning on!!

Its sounds as if the lamp has exploded or the color wheel has. I will post a link to a site that has a trouble shooting manual on CD called RCA DLP Disc #1 which covers every DLP in the ATC line which is what your model is. They have it either in cd form or they will email it. Its a very good resource for fixing your own set.
