Electrical malfunction driving yesterday, the radio, power locks and windows went dead while there was a light appearing on the dash the looked like a lock (security). When I turned the vehicle off and turned it back on it worked. Is this going to be a problem or an anomoly?

I have a 2003 Town and Country mini-van and I lost power to all my ... In addition to this my wipers, headlight controls, blinker controls, power door locks, and A/C/heat controls are out as well. The odd thing is that the power windows work, the power sideview mirrors work, the radio and ceiling lights also work.

what happened when you tried jumping the car? sounds like it could be a bad ignition switch since only non-switched things work.

BY dead do you mean that the starter did not crank the engine at all or it would not start and run. I would have a load test done on the battery and check for a failed cell if that is the case.

The battery ran out of power because the alternator is not charging it.
Have the alternator output tested and take a look at the fuses.

Wiring problem under the dash. Could be a ground issue as you said. You need to get under the dash and check the grounds.

look for another fuse box in or under dash. still sounds like you have a blown fuse. look in owners manual for all fuse box locations,including underhood electrial center. good luck.

Check the other fuses. Look in your owner's manual for the location of them. It would appear that you have at least one more blown fuse.

I would say that you need to replace the alternator. The car was running on the batteries power. When you drove the car, it ran the battery completely dead.

Items to check:
Try wiring behind alternator.may be full of corrosion.
One of the accessories maybe shorting out and draining battery.
(Techns know how to find this out)

You have all the fuse locations. I have seen some that after radio was put in did that. usually it turns out that re-grounding the dash or using different power supplies for the radio has corrected it. otherwise, I'd check the light switch and make sure it's OK.
