Difficulty installing brass clips on kenmore model 110.92274100

Following your directions I was able to fix a hose that came off inside the washer. Now I and trying to reinstall the brass clips but having a very difficult time. They fell to the floor during the uninstall and I'm not sure I have them in place properly. If I do, they are really hard to negotiate back into the holes in the cabinet. Please guide me.

First off the clips should go right in place if the cabinet is installed properly..with the lid open tip the cabinet and place it in place.. the very front of cabinet must go UNDER the front frame plate of washer. And the side then sit atop the frame.(in the very rear, perhaps 2 inches in from either side there is as a small slot cut into the cabinet and a corresponding tab on the washer frame itself. it should literally sit right into place(might take a little finagling, but it'll fit nicely.. when this happens the brass clips, will first hook into the back wall of cabinet and then with a little pressure push and snap into the cabinet you removed

I remove the rear panel from my kenmore elite top washer to gain access to the capacitor. While re-installing the panel, I have difficulty re-attaching the rear panel to the two brass-looking clips. ...

These clips don't really engage in the rear panel all by themselves without being held when clipped to the deck. If you have the panel ready to go back on, that is, if the bottom is all square and the panel is on right, then you slip the clip in one of the slots. Make sure the tab is going up on the outside of the panel. Press that tab against the back of the panel so it stays there and horizontal and move the panel forward until the clip is over the rectangular holes on the deck. Then press the clip down in the holes and it should lock. Then do the other side the same way. You can now put the control panel back on. Hope this helps.

Kenmore washer 110.26432500 leaking in front bottom. I think it is part 8528158 or 3363394. Is this common? Difficulty of the fix?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

See the section for the basket and tub assembly

It's not an un-common problem and relatively easy to fix.

I'd pull the cabinet in order to get to the hoses going to and from the pump first.

See the following:

If the hoses are fine, check the shaft from the motor to the pump and check inside the pump to make sure the inlet and outlet aren't blocked.

I'd also check the gaskets at the bottom of the tub.

If you're reasonably mechanically inclined, these are easy fixes.

If you have to get to the gaskets at the bottom of the tub, see the following for how to remove the agitators, pump, motor, transmission, spin tube and basket.

(It sounds a bit complicated but it's not really that difficult.)

You don't have to buy a special spanner wrench to remove the spanner nut. I've used a short 10" pipe wrench hooked over one of the tabs on the spanner nut, tap the handle with a hammer and it should loosen.

Also, don't directly hit the drive block with a hammer. Use a short piece of wood under the drive block and tap up on the wood.

As an aside, see the following Whirlpool Service Manual for top load direct drive washers.$FILE/L-55.pdf

Depending on the problem (hoses or gasket) it's certainly less expensive than calling in a repair person.

Timer/control knob on front panel has come loose from the inside, Any help on opening panel and reattaching unit to the panel

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Next, see the following for how to release the console:

Some Kenmore washers don't have removable end caps with screws underneath. These models usually have a spring clip mounted under where the end caps would be. In that case, use a thin putty knife to slip under the ends of the console to release the clips.

Also see the following Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for top load, direct drive washers. It details the two types of timers and how to access them.$FILE/L-55.pdf

Our washing machine doesn't drain the water out. It still spins but the water doesn't come out. What is wrong with our machine?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

See the section on motor and pump.

Assuming that everything else is working, the problem points to the pumo and/or hoses leasing to and from it.

The pump is directly driven off the motor.

To remove the cabinet on this design machine. Locate two screws in the bottom front of the control panel. This panel is where you set controls. Remove the two Phillips head screws and lift up and turn control panel backwards. It will hinge to an up position and stay there. Locate the two brass colored clips that hold the back of the washer to the cabinet. Remove by prying up with screwdriver. Unplug the wires going to the lid switch. Pull forward on the cabinet and the whole thing will disconnect from the base of washer and you can set it aside. Check and/or removi the pump by un-snaping the two clips that hold it to the motor.

Check for obstructions in the inlet and outlet hoses on the pump and check inside it for any obvious obstructions.

Kenmore washer, elite 70 series is leaking water on floor

the hose from the drum to the pump, and from the pump to the drain, are at the front,
Movement of the drum during wash cycles, wears the short hose between drum and pump and it develops cracks, eventually a wash load of any size will finally cause one of the cracks to penetrate through the rubber, and constant drip occurs.
Its an easy fix, no more than screwdrivers needed.
the local parts guy will have the hose, even if it is labelled ge frididaire whirlpool the same hose is common to many makes and models

  • turn off water unplug washer
  • pop the endcaps off the control panel, and completely remove the phillips head screw under each endcap dec762a.jpg
  • lilft the control panel ~1inch and flip it over the back of the washer,
(do not dislodge the water level sensing hose or we'll be back to fix it later, hinges are plastic, dont bust em)
  • remove the two brass clips under the control panel
    (note position for reinstall)
  • remove lid switch connector
  • lift entire body up ~1 inch and remove forward
  • motor pump hoses gearbox are now exposed.
examine hose from drum to pump, and from pump to cabinet rear,
replace cracked and crazed hoses.
reassemble in reverse order

Brass clips do not go in

No special tools are needed. You simply insert one end of the brass clip in the slot on the back panel first, then push the looped end into the hole on top of the washer case. You push straight down and the clip snaps back into place. If you are having difficulty, you may not have the back panel aligned correctly with the washer case. The panel should be flush with the washer casing on BOTH sides in order for the clips to snap back into place.

Removing cabinet of kenmore elite washing machine

It would help if I had your model number, but I'm assuming you have a Kenmore top loader that has the fill hoses attached under the left rear of the washer casing. With the brass clips removed, you should be able to move the cabinet off the frame slightly to give you enough room to reach your hand under the wash tub rim and disconnect the hoses. You may need a set of pliers to remove the hose clamps. I hope this helps you.

If you are having difficulty, please post back and let me know.

Was there a reason why you were removing the cabinet? Do you need further assistance?

Does not spin

for everyone except 'overseer'
the coupler can be purchased at a local parts store
'Kenmore motor/gearbox coupler' will get it for you, there is only on for all the models.
it is an easy fix
  • unplug washer
  • remove trim ends of control panel
  • remove phillips head screws from bottoms of control panel under where trim was
  • slide control panel forweard & up about 1 inch, then flip over the back of the control panel, do not dislodge the air hose
  • remove brass clips in rear corners of top with screwdriver, remember how they fit
  • unplug lid switch connector
  • lift body 1inch and slide forward to remove
  1. front center is the motor pump and gearbox
  2. do NOT disconnect hoses
  • remove spring clips holding pump on to motor shaft, note where they go for reinstall. there may be a lock screw in the top right clip.
  • swing pump to the left and use a string or bread bag tie to hold it out of the way.
  • remove spring clips holding motor to gearbox shaft, note where they go for reinstall. there may be a lock screw in the top right clip.
  • heave ******* motor, to separate the coupling
  • remove coupling halves from gearbox shaft and motor shaft and discard.
  • using a wooden dowel and hammer, on the center of the new coupling halves, drive them onto the motor and gearbox shafts, (dont hit the fingers, they break, note the new couplings have metal centres to solve ongoing problems.)
  • rotate gearbox coupling, 1 up 2 down
  • rotate motor coupling, 2 up 1 down
  • install rubber shock pad on gearbox coupling
  • install motor on shock pad
  • reinstall spring clips and lock screw if fitted (bottom first, rock the motor on rubber shock mount to ease spring clip installation)
  • rotate motor shaft to align with pump input
  • install pump on motor shaft
  • install spring clips and lock screw if fitted
reinstall body in reverse order

it takes less time to do the repair than it takes to type this
