Try and verify whether or not your R4 or R4i card was original by visiting R4DSRevolution.co.uk, they have a few guides to teach you how to test between real and fake cards.

As for the iEDGE, I would highly recommend it but be careful of some fakes, there are indistinguishable fakes out on the market that you may want to watch out for. Check out this link to understand how to tell the difference:

If you're in the US I'd recommend trying DSCardWorld for your DS cards since a friend shopped there and said they were both genuine and good. I'm in London UK so I use NDS-Gear.co.uk, they're pretty much recognised as being the best around here.

Good luck!

SOURCE: I bought a dsi and it's not reading my r4i game card

The new Nintendo DSi does not allow AR devices on it yet, due to the software embedded in the console itself.

When r4i card is inserted , dsi reads . An error has occured .Press and hold the power button to turn the system off. Please see manual

If your DSi has the most recent firmware, v. 1.4, then you'll have to wait to update your R4i when they release an appropriate update. http://www.r4dscards.com/R4i-DS-Card/

Hello,
Either your card is faulty or it's not making good contact with the slot of your DS. Is it a reliable R4i SDHC ?

My daughter connected her DSi to the Nintendo DSi Shop and now her R4i-SDCH card no longer works. The DSi can still read the R4i-SDCH card on the menu but once you click it it reads.... ''An error has...

That doesn't work,
Basically the DSI update has blocked the R4 slot card, nothing you can do now!
No matter what firmware you place onto the card the blocking device is built into the DSI memory, I've tried formatting/changing dates/other slot cards. no good.
Afraid to say the DSI is no longer compatable with the slot cards except for the authentic cards.

I put my R4i gold card in the slot but it just says "An error occurred.Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations Manuel for help troubleshooting."

Since your actually not supposed to use the gold card according to the government the dsi might be a stubborn one and the gold card info cant get through or your gold card might be faulty. The most foolproof solution is to get a R4i sdhc in a red box. Then again you can try blowing into the card insert or blowing into the sandisk slot.

Good luck! :)

R4i working SLOW on DSi. Loads slow and make save files slow.???

cause DSI is the nintendos attempt to stop R4 card users! see the r4 and GnM cards made nintendo invest in a microsd slot! so try using that card with the dsi instead of the R4 as people now are hacking the micro sd slot to allow any ds rom to be played! faster then th R4 due to the fact that the micro sd is connected right to the motherboard of a ds game slot devices such as R4
