Question about Barebone Systems

Cable needed and an owners manual

I bought an almost new Plustek 2000 Printer/Scanner and was able to install it w/the CD that came w/it. I was unable to open the users guide, the Adobe Reader failed. I can't figure out the type of cable connection I need to attach the Plustek to my IBM Clone. It is not the typical LPT 1 female connector on the printer. It looks like a male serial connector of the same size. I will buy the Owners Manual if I can. Anxious in Commack, NY, James B.

How do I scan a document to my computer with the Canon Pixma MP470 printer/scanner? I tried to press scan, but the document never shows up on my computer

Hello!

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Scanners and Cameras
then double click your scanner and follow the wizard

If your scanner does not shou up in the Scanners and Cameras folder,  then you need to install scanner driver located on the CD the Printer/scanner came with

Hope this helps!

Scanner

Do you have any scanner software installed to use your scanner with? In most cases a scanner comes with CD that installs a software package that will allow immediate use of the scanner after installation. Once that package is installed, you place picture in one of the corners of the scanner underneath the lid of course and press either the manual scan button that is on some scanners or the button on the software package that you installed into the computer when first configuring the scanner during installation. I assume you have acquired the scanner as a twain source else little will happen.

Hi i've got a plustek 7200 scanner and its causing a usb power overload on my p.c. can i repair it ?

USB ports operate in pairs from a usb host controller. Normally these pairs of ports are side by side (ie parallel to one another along their longest side) each pair of ports can onlhy be supplied with a limited amount of current.

You can try either plugging the scanner into a port that has nothing in its adjacent pair OR

You can buy a powered USB hub that will be able to sustain the current required for your scanner
