The screw section is probably for the house speakers. ( if they are still on the other end of those screw's wiring.) If you have a working speaker on your computer you need a jumper wire or sorts. Buy, build, or make it by cutting one your speaker wires a couple feet behind the speaker and stripping an inch of insulation to get to the bare wire.
Get some music on the speaker you use for testing. Cut the wire and remove an inch insulation from from the cut end coming from the computer. (you test and learn how to do this - hook it back up to the speaker wire. See if you made work again.)NOW THEN! Take the jumper wire ( there are at least two.) and start touching it to any of those two screws. If your computer was and still playing music after you cut the speaker wire or inserted a test plug with speaker wire - you will be able to locate speakers connected to that site.

This p in to that live speaker output has a lead out with 2-3 bare wires on the end to connect to the on the on the other end have the two pieces of wire with a speaker disconnected. to touch to those

I have a Yamaha HTR 3063 reciever and I just got a PSW 2000 Kef sub and I can't get the sub to WORK NO MATTER WHAT I DO PLEASE HELP

That is a potentially great combination. I have a Yamaha receiver but I am not familiar enough with Kef to know but is it possible your receiver expects to be connected to a powered sub. Are you sure the Kef works by itself? Have you checked to see whether the receiver subwoofer output works with another speaker? Could receiver mode selection be a factor? My Yamaha switches various functions on and off depending upon your preference.

For what it's worth, the troubleshooting section of my Yamaha manual says a subwoofer no sound problem can be caused by selecting MAIN LFE/BASS OUT on the SET MENU when Dolby or DTS material is being played or selecting SWFR when a 2-channel source is being played. Something has to work!

OVERLOAD

First of all the KEF is a powered sub which means that it wants a line level signal NOT a speaker level. Send the signal from a tape output or pre-amp output to the sub input. The overload is because the impedence load for the speaker output is too low and looks like a short to the amp. Continued attempts to connect the system as described will result in damage to the output section of the amp.

Please let me know if you need more info.

The problem was actually at the speaker. The speaker I was using was a Kef speaker and it was missing a metal bar running across both negative terminals in order to power both the tweeter and woofer.

Kef k160 sp3134 hi i was wondering if speaker parts canbe purchased for these. also i wastrying to figure out whether you access the speakers inside the cabinet. thecabinets are sowellmade it is not easy...

I have a good KEF K160 tower (one speaker) for sale. I purchased the pair and one had a blown woofer. After trying to replace/repair, I purchased a pair of KEF C40s and been happy ever since. The good K160 looks and sounds good. Grill and cabinet in good shape, both black finish. Other speaker cabinet is in poor condition. I'll sell the single (or both if you want to pay shipping) for $75. (Plus shipping, around $50 USA ground delivery) These are hard to find.

Onkyo 705 receiver shuts off at higher volumes

I had this same problem and it turned out to be a twisted kink in the speaker wire. Run a sound check to each speaker separately (from your receiver menu) and turn each one up until the receiver shuts off. Check the wire to the speaker that caused it to shut off and make sure the +- ends are not touching each other at either end, and that there are no twists or kinks along the way.
