    Hi Benimur,

    The monitor does the same on other computers.

    The old valve monitors had a focus resistor on the LOPT. This is what I used to get when the resistor burned out. Techniques have changed and I am at a loss,

    Kind Regards,

The monitor might be failing, becouse if the resolution would be too high it would show a box like no video present only with Out of sync text instead.

Have you tried lowering the Screen Resolution and Screen Refresh Rate of the PC in its Display Properties?

It could be that you PC's current settings are way above what the Samsung can handle.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa

    Hi again Dave,

    Appreciate the post back and additional information. Based on all the info at hand, it could then be of four (4) possiblities:
    1. focus adjustment - normally integrated with the FBT. Most current monitors have their Screen & Focus adjustments at the rear of the FBT and accessible through "holes" of the heatsink of the horizontal out transistor. Being a 17inch, it is likely that there would be two (2) focus controls;

    2. video cable - possibly an open wire of either/or both the vertical/horizontal sync;
    3. video interface - this would be the IC controlling the R-G-B buffers/amps. In all monitors, this would be where the video cable ends (inside the monitor). Likewise often (but not allways), this would be in the small PCB at the very rear of the CRT.

    Of course, it is also very possible that any other component would and could have failed. At this point, a service manual or at the very least a schematic is needed.

First step is to test and see if it's your monitor or PC that is giving the problem. Plug the screen to a laptop and switch on presentation mode. If nothing shows up, try replacing your monitor (VGA) cable as you mentioned that the gateway logo still shows when you power on, indicating that the monitor somewhat works. The cable looks like this:

If monitor works on the other PC/laptop, proceed to check the video card of existing PC. Update driver and remount the graphic card to see if it helps.

I am using my samsung monitor (SyncMasterfor half a day now and all of a sudden the clear display started to be blurred with blue. I don't know what to do ? kindly help...

If it has turned blue, it is most likely that the cable has become loose. Try tightening the cable at the back of the monitor as well as the PC.

If you continue to see issue, try switching the cable with a new one.

Hi sir. when i watch any video songs or movies

your videoes have a small pixel say 320x240 so when you blow it up to say 1440x900 the player has to ADD pixels that dont exist. so you get an unclear picture.

christian204, Your unit may be 5 -6 years old, and may have developed a problem with it's internal "switch-mode-power-supply" and will need good CCFL backlit lcd monitor tech to repair it. When strange and wierd things start to occur on lcd screens the first place to look would be the SMPS. 12fixlouie

Please verify that you are running your PC video card with native resolution of this monitor, 1680x1050 @60Hz for best picture for this monitor.
Unless you may have problem inside the monitor or the video card itself, so try this monitor on another PC also.

For best pictures, you need to set your PC video resolution to the native resolution of this monitor, which is 1280x1024 @60Hz. Try that first before opening up the monitor to look for bad components.

Monitor signal cable troubleshooting

hi, there is some loose contact in the connection. Take out the cable end from the VGA socket and check the pins inside the socket for any bend inside the socket. Reconnect it, tight the connector with the socket bolts. If not solved, try for any loose solder or wire breake.
