Question about Acer TravelMate 292LCi Notebook
I got this problem with my 292LCi Acer notebook:
Sometimes screen starts blinking (That means brighghtness is changing quickly) and one of following outcomes are possible:
-It goes back to normal and after a while starts blinking again.
-Brightness goes to max and input in frozen (mouse and keyboard) (Only power unplug can turn it off)
-Light turned off and again input is frozen
-It turns off immediately.
Can someone help me please?
Firstly we need to establish if the problem is caused by the notebook's display or by it's on board graphics adapter. To do this I need you to connect an external display to the notebook. I see that the 292 has a VGA I/O port to which any VGA display can be connected.
When the notebook's screen is displayed on the external display one of two scenarios may be experienced:
Reason: When the LCD TFT display starts flickering it is a sign that the backlight is not receiving the correct current (the inverter provides the backlight with the required current).
As opposed to a malfunctioning backlight. When a dark, faint output display is the only experienced symptom (that is; no flickering of the screen and no lockup of screen display) the LCD's backlight is at fault
In case of scenario 2 the solution will be to take the notebook to a computer repair shop where a certified IT technician can order and replace the malfunctioning inverter.
Please take the time to rate this solution.
Kind regards and thanks for using the FixYa service.
