Question about Bosch Turbo Jet Bagged Upright Vacuum
I had the same problem. I just replaced the brush motor and the belt. The Bosch upright 1170 has two motors- one for the suction and the other for the brush. To get to the belt, you will need to remove 12 screws (phillips head) on the bottom of the brush head. Pop out the cover and you have access to the brush, belt and motor for the brush. The belt may be broken and/or the belt gear on the motor may be gone also. This is what happened to mine. Good luck.

I have an older version of this vacuum and there is an on/off switch for the brushes up on the handle (separate from the power on/off). Another feature is that the brushes will not rotate while the handle is in the upright position.

The belt for this machine is very specific and only one size fits. It is not uncommon for vac shops to sell the wrong belt because the proper belt is not available from normal supply houses, so they will substitute something they think will work.
Also, assuming you do have the right belt, check the tension arm that drops down on the v-belt when the handle is brought back. This arm has a wheel/bearing with a plastic "tire" or trim that rolls on the belt to tighten it. Sometimes, this tire cracks and falls off and then the remaining bearing won't have the necessary tension to tighten up the belt.

Yes I had the same problem on my animal Dysom. There is a button on the top of the dysom that turns the cacuum on. Right beside that button is another one that turns on and off the brush!!! Good luck!!! I accidently one day bumped that button and couldn't get my brush to work but after troubleshooting it, that was my solution.

Unscrew and remove the side brush. There is probably a wad of hair and dirt underneath it that's keeping it from spinning. When it's clean, *snap* the brush back on, then screw it into place. If it still doesn't turn, you'll need a new module. Call support: 877-855-8593. Good luck.
