Sounds like the door is losing contact with the door switch, first thing i would check is the door strike.Metal strike plate located on the tub itself that the door latch catches as it closes. its a spring metal striker, i would try bending it down a little bit to ensure better contact with the switches inside the door itself . next id open the control panel and check to make sure your door switches are secured well, wires are tight.

My whirlpool gold series dishwasher will not stop running through cycles unless i open the door. It will just continue to run for hours. Any relatively easy fixes before i call backup?

Some dishwashers can run for 4 hours or more normally depending on the options you choose. What do you mean by it runs through cycles is it always changing cycles by itself or is it just the cycle you pick just keeps on going, have you tried a quick wash or 1 hour wash does it do it then? is you hot water hot enough? if not it makes the unit run longer because it has to heat the water up. always run the hot water at the sink to bring hot water up from the water heater to the sing so the dishwasher fills with hot water and not cold.

Brand new whirlpool dishwasher starts on own

Because you cheated and filled it manually, it may be that the second running was actually resetting the programme. Do a normal wash, and if it does it again, contact the maker for advice.

Hi

If clean light is blinking then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry or High Temp Wash-Heated Dry-High Temp Wash-Heated Dry . Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

I have a Whirlpool gold Quiet partner III. The Normal button of the cycle is blinking and I can't start the dish washer. What is going on?

most likely the door switch is not making contact or is faulty. Shut the door tightly and see if it makes any difference.

Please provide the full model number of the dishwasher in case you need further help.

Stopped runing

If you Whirlpool Gold 24 in. Built-In Dishwasher Dishwasher blinks 7 times and then repeats, indicates a problem in the dishwasher which should be investigated and not just the control 'reset'! That is why the control will not let the dishwasher start once such a condition is detected.
If the dishwasher's electronic control doesn't detect a water temperature increase during the main wash cycle, that symptom can occur. No water temperature increase could be caused by a problem in the heater element, its in-line thermostat, the related wiring or a problem in the electronic control.
It is also possible just the washer not spraying properly (possibly from blockage in the filter or problem in the pump), the dishwasher not filling sufficiently or draining prematurely or even a problem in the door latching mechanism's switch(es) could cause it.

The normal light blinks, i hit cancel and the light wash light blinks as well. it will go through the sensoring process, then a 2 miniute cycle. then everyhting repeats itself

Try hitting these buttons in this sequence
<High Temp Wash><Heated Dry><High TempWash><Heated dry>   this should reset the board and run a short diagnostic cycle. After that if the problem comes back you have another issue.

Will Not Run

I had the exact same problem. The tech came by and suggested to run the diagnostic cycle to clear up the error. Nice guy didn't charge for the time. He said Whrilpool has a poor software design.
Problem - LED blinks 7 times when the temperature doesn't come up to the degree F required for the wash. This may happen if someone took a shower minutes before starting the dishwasher.
The Tech said, Whirlpool should have allowed a straight forward reset by the customer (instead of disabling the machine for a tech to come by and fix the minor issue).
Here is the solution.
Solution - (is pretty much the same to clear up the other software glitches as well)
Try "resetting" the control board by running the diagnostic cycle. The cycle completes in 15 minutes.
The details are in the service manual. The manual can be found hidden behind the tow plate (at the very bottom front of the washer).
The diagnostic cycle may tell you the problem. It also helps clear up some of the software gltiches.
It is easy to run the diagnostic cycle.
Just the buttons in the following sequence. The sequence should be complete within 6 sec.
heated dry -> Normal -> heated dry -> Normal
This will trigger diagnostic cycle of 19 intervals. Pay special attention to the intervals 18, 17, 9, 6, 4.
Interval 18 - displays your controller module number (should be letter 'd' followed by number 0 or 1 or 2 or something. Note that down for future reference.
Interval 17 displays 'software generation number' Note that down for future reference.
Then wait until you reach interval 9.  --- clean LED turns on - then an open or shorted thermister is detected.
-- Sanitized LED turns on - then the washer detected greater than 100 deg F temperature
Interval 7
-- Soaking/sensing LED should NOT come on (unless food soil is present).
Interval 4 -- Soaking/sensing LED should come on

Let the cycle complete and then try running the normal wash. Hopefully the possible glitches are cleared by now and you should have no problem.
If this doesn't work, time to call the expert tech.

Blinking "Normal" button

PROBLEM: STOPPED RUNNING, WILL NOT START AND
CLEAN LED BLINKS 7 TIMES, THEN REPEATS
(WATER HEATING FAULT)
Control is programmed to stop
running and not allow any
further cycles if it detects a
water heating problem (no
temperature increase detected
in heated Main Wash on
3 consecutive cycles). Control
blinks the Clean LED 7 times
repeatedly and disables the
Start/Resume key until
cleared.
Running Diagnostics clears the
control and allows it to operate
again. The water heating problem
must be fixed or the control will
stop running again. See potential
causes below.
Heater circuit problem:
■ Open in heater.
■ Open connection or
component in heater circuit.
■ Faulty heater drive circuit on
control.
1. Check operation of heater in
Diagnostics cycle.
2. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect
power.
3. Check resistance of heater and all
components and connections in the
water heating circuit or heat dry
circuit.
Wash pump not pumping water
past the heater efficiently.
See “WASH PUMP WILL NOT
PUMP”.
Door switch not making
contact consistently:
■ Faulty or sloppy door latch
assembly (which can be
aggravated by high door
closure force keeping strike
plate from fully seating).
■ Faulty door switch (high
resistance).
NOTE: Neutral switch on
plastic tub models is only in
series with motor and heater;
other loads are not affected.
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect
power.
2. Measure resistance of door
switch contacts while checking
mechanical operation of latch
assembly. Confirm switches not
loose from assembly. Check strike
plate and door closure.
Lack of water to heat. See “WILL NOT FILL OR LOW
WATER”.
PROBLEM: WON’T START AND START/RESUME K
