When it says "switch" it means plug in the device which you are trying to communicate with. Commonly called a switch or maybe a wireless router. This should be connected to your outgoing telephone line or broadband facility.

Cannot the wireless internet setup

Hi kschmerer,

I understand that you are not able to setup the Wireless Network Connection in your Computer.
To fix this issue, please make sure that the Physical Wireless Switch on the Computer is turned ON and then try connecting the Computer to the Wirelss Network.

You can locate the Physical Wireless Switch on the front side of the Computer. Please move the switch toward right side to turn it ON.

Once the Physical Wireless Switch is turned ON, please try setting up the Wireless Network Connection.

If you are not able to to connect to Wireless Network Connection after switching on the Physical Wireless LAN Switch, try using the Wireless Switch Setting Utility.

To enable the Wireless Network Connection using the Wireless Device Switch Utility, please double-click the Wireless Device Switch icon on the right corner of the Taskbar. Then in the open Wireless Device Switch window, please click to check the box next to Enable 2.4Ghz Wireless LAN.

This should fix the issue.

Please post back if you have any questions or require further assistance.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi - VAIO vgn-fz21m - can't locate the wireless switch/function

HI,
when you try to connect to the wireless network, you must be getting a message " turn on the wireless switch on your laptop "
See there must be a sliding switch on your laptop. it could be on the side panel or on the front panel. Try to locate the wireless switch on the laptop.
it must be having a wireless symbol on it like TOWER or Wireless signals.
On some laptops it is a combination of keys like Fn+F2 or Fn+F5.
If you have the user manual you will find the information about the wireless switch.

Switch to Wireless

Basically you could right click on the wireless icon in your systray (to the left of your clock usually) and select "View available networks" then click the "Refresh list" in the window that comes up and select the wireless network you want to connect to and then click the connect button at the bottom right corner of that same window. That should do it.
