    same problem

My solution to this has been to unregister the keyboard with my computer, and then re-register it. It happens on both my Windows machine and m macintosh. So I suspect that somehow the keyboard just gets confused at some point.

System battery is low

Dear Anonymous,
BEST PRACTICE: Buy an anti-static wristband before going "under-the-bonnet! Many people will advise that it is ok to delve around the insides of a computer without one, but that can be an expensive mistake...when they only cost a couple of bucks & can save you the trouble & expense of zapping ex$pensive hardware. Your computer box contains extremely sensitive chips & the human body can store up to 50,000 volts of static electricity...
TURN POWER OFF AT WALL SOCKET! [But leave plug in wall socket - this will extend power-system earth to the box.] Then press & hold power-on button on front of box case. (This will "earth" the system.)
Open computer box: Most Dell tower/mini tower boxes have a slider on the back panel: hold slider open & slide side of case backwards.
Find a non-painted - (bare) - metal connection point for wristband alligator clip inside box. Attach clip. {N.B.: if you do this procedure WITHOUT an anti-static wristband, be sure that you "earth" your body, by holding on to the bare metal connection point for a few seconds!} Locate the cmos - (or "BIOS") - battery. It will be a button-shaped battery. Check "Polarity" - (which way up) - of old battery. 'Eject old battery from holder. Check battery TYPE - (make sure that new battery is identical/equivalent. Push new battery into holder. Remove wrist clip. Replace side-cover. Power on. Reboot computer. N.B.: If asked during bootup - restore BIOS settings to "default". That's it! I hope that this solves your problem. Kind regards - 'b'ye - Bruce.

Wireless network connection ,says that no wireless network were found in range

Look on your function keys there could be a radio tower symbol. If you have one press and hold the FN button ( left side on the bottom of keyboard ) and then press the button with the tower on it that should turn on / off your wireless. you may also have a switch on the sides or front which maybe turned off also check for that.

Internet connection disappears.

You may either need to do a firmware update, or reset it back to factory default, you can download the firmware from the netgear site, or you can log onto the router and do a reset of the router.

Hope this helps,

Dir-615 router not resetting

Hi there, and welcome to FixYa,

You have either set some kind of security on the computer or the router.

Best reset the router by pressing and hold the small inside boten on the back for 30 sec. first,
then if still no connection,
If its winXP, Start -> Settings -> Control panel, and find internet connection
open wireless connection, right click, go down to the bottom one (dont know it in English).
Chose Wireless network, delete you wireless connection, press the boten show wireless network, find yours and connect if it hasn't already done so itself.

Now you have a very open wireless router, do start to set a admin password, and what ever you do from here ON the router, you must do on the computer also.

DO NOT ATTEMPT to do this on a wireless connection, use a cable.

hi Rene,

Seems like there is a problem with your router because as you mentioned the wireless light disappeared with no apparent for reason. Try to do a reset on the router.

1. Power off the router then by using a paper clip or a pen press the reset button then put the power back in while holding the reset button.

2. Continue pressing the reset button for 15 seconds, release the reset button and wait for the router to restart.

3. Access the setup page of the router using internet explorer(type: on the address bar), user name is "admin" and leave the password black

4. On the router setup page, click on the connection type on the left hand column and under WAN internet heading, make sure that it is set to "Dynamic".

5. Click "submit" and go to Home tab and check if the connection say's "connected"on the internet status.

Hope this will help you solve your connection problem.
