Audiophile 2496 no sound

I am not a high tech person so do not understand much of what has been said in this site. I need a simple explanation as to why I can get no sound from my computer through the sound card to the stereo. I am playing Itunes and wish the sound to go through the stereo. I have the sound card installed and the cables connected from the out to the Aux in on the amplifier but receive to sound at all. The computer says the drivers are installled and everything is working correctly. What do I need to do to use this sound card? HELP!!!

Hmmm.... see at the bottom called Tray ICON. Find there may be an speaker icon double click on it. it will open Master Volume. See if you have checked any Mute check box, then sound will not be play.

and if you don't have that icon, means your driver is not installed properly.

To find out do the following:

click on Start->Control Panel->System

This will open System Properties window

Click on Hardware and then click on Device Manage

It will open Device Manager Window.
In that window if there is any icon with yellow color, it means your driver is missing.

Please if the case try to re-install the drivers.

And if you find any prblm... add comment here i will give you solution for that

Thanks
Iqbal

Connecting the card to your stereo is not that hard. since your card is working properly as you said, try color coding instead to lessen your worries. if your stereo has left and right speaker input, connect it from the sound cards' left and right output. depending if your have surround sound option, left, right, mid, sub. all goes to the corresponding channel input.

i would like you to further elaborate what your stereo is and what options does your sound card have.

Try either right click the speaker icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen "open volume mixer" click :devices" and select the card you installed. if that fails, go to device manager and disable any other cards the the computer has so it wont conflict. if that fails take it into geeksquad at best buy to see what is going on.

Noise Control and Being a Good Neighbour

Whether you live in a private dwelling, or in a multiple home dwelling, such as a condo or apartment building, one should pay attention to controlling the sound from home theatre and stereo systems. In this case, we are generally talking about managing the bass frequencies of the sound system. High frequencies tend to be absorbed by common building materials. The physical/mechanical aspects of sound transmission are complex, but the average person can apply some simple and inexpensive methods to minimize the unwanted transmission of bass frequencies beyond the listening space.
Transmission of bass frequencies can often be controlled by placing bass-producing speakers on pieces of rubber material. These can be as simple as scrap pieces of rubber mat, salvaged rubber feet from other equipment, etc. The physical placement of speakers can determine the amount of bass frequencies that the sound system produces in the listening space. Generally, more bass is generated by placing speakers in corners, and along the shortest wall of a room.
Of course, adjusting the bass and volume controls is a method that can be used to satisfy personal tastes or to control the sound in any situation. Many home sound systems now employ a subwoofer to provide enhanced bass response. This can add lifelike sound quality to the home listening experience, but it is probably the source of most noise complaints. The subwoofer channel of most video program sound tracks has more bass intensity than one generally finds in television, radio or music sound sources. To prevent disturbing the neighbours, one should employ all of the methods detailed above, to reach a happy medium of being able to enjoy full spectrum audio within reason. Personally, I ask my neighbours listen in their homes, while I adjust my maximum sound system volume to a level that they would not complain about.

Hi. I am using the Tascam 2488Mkii in a very simple set up. I love the sound of the single effect reverb. I just want to record my vocal and accoustic with that effect (recording via microphone)....

If you own a small practice guitar amplifier with reverb, mic the amplifier and hook your guitar and microphone into it and run it into the board. You will get a better sound

Sounds like you have a power supply problem in the amp. I am assuming the fuse you are replacing is intergraterd into the AC connection. You need to dig deeper. If you are not an electronics person you will need a tech.

Need help understanding microphone

as described in the owners manual, set the microphone at the primary listening position at ear level, prop it up somehow, a camera tripod works well, plug the mic into the receiver front port, near and under volume dial, and follow instruction on the receivers screen.
