Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-840S Problem

My Acer Notebook came standard with this burner and it worked fine for 2 years but now it reads professionally made cd's (like programs and music bought in stores) but it won't read copied discs. Not just music but data cd's too. That means every time a client gives me a disc to work from my notebook sees it as an empty disc. PLEASE HELP!!! I'm desperate!

I beleive that you may need to reinstall the drive and update the drivers,
if youve got XP OS then you will need SP2 updates also.
Failing that a new drive is probably the only option.
If the 2.5 drive option is too expensive you could get an external device for this function or if you have a network
(more than one computer)you could share the device across the network from the other computers device tray.

Please rate me if this helps thanks

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Maybe "Autorun" feature is turned off. (1) You can download a free program called "TweakUI" (powertoys) from Microsoft which would allow you to turn on "Autorun" if it is currently disabled. (2) You could try manually running the disc by opening "My Computer", double-clicking the CD/DVD drive (usually "D") to open its browser, then double-clicking on the file(s) you wish to launch from the CD/DVD.

MY DVD DRIVE CAN NOT SEE VCD AND DVD THAT NEVER WRITE THEN CAN NOT WRITE ALL DISE BUT IT CAN READ VCD&DVD THAT EVER WRITTEN

you need to install a third party VCD viewer software...
some operating system doesn't come with VCD viewer.

when you look for a software you should keep in mind that you need a software that will support your dvd drive also.

Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-840S Problem

If you can remember a time when it worked, the simplest solution may be to use system restore to a time when you think everything worked. If that doesn't do it, go to Control Panel, open device manager, and and check for any yellow checks for your CD/DVD ROM drives, and your sound, video and game controllers. If there are none, your system is go. Also go to your audio manager on control panel, and set it up for whatever speaker configuration you have. But most likely, your CD/DVD burning program may be corrupted. Remarkably, the drives don't work unless you have a functioning non-microsoft CD/DVD burning program. They don't need drivers. Find out what program you have by downloading Belarc Advisor, a free program which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), and will also inform you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what CD/DVD burning programs you have, go to Acer and download any updates (you can't go to the manufacturer of the program, because they make special editions for different computer manufactureres). If that doesn't fix the problem, you can find and reinstall your original program (you may have made copies of all your programs when you first bought your Acer). You can copy the original programs that came with the Acer using Acer eRecovery Management. (You can read about your Acer by clicking on "All Programs" and then on "AcerSystem", where you will find your manual, where you will find the following info: The eRecovery allows you to backup/restore the factory default image, and reinstall any applications and drivers. (In this instance you want to reinstall your CD-DVD burning programs). You just need to select the Burn Disc button, then select the application you want to burn to the disc--in this case, you CD-DVD buring program you identified with Belarc, burn it, then reinstall it. (You might want to burn all the applications the computer came with, just to have them for backup). That should get you going again. Let me know if you run into any problems.
