I'm not exactly sure on your model...but most have two screws that hold the control panel to the top lid... one on the right and one on the left. If your model has a lint screen on top of the dryer they'll be some screws there also... Once the screws have been removed try sliding the top lid forward an inch to release the clips then lift...Again not sure if your model is the same. Once you have the top lid off just flip it up and then you'll need to remove the front panel..screws on left and right top...along with disconnecting plug for door switch... lift up on front panel and it should come right off...becarefull the drum will want to fall down when you move the front panel.....Replace the belt and reinstall everything in the reverse order...Good Luck

Dryer squeaks when running

Without knowing the make or model I'll give you a couple things to look at:
The support rollers (typically on the bottom, rear of the drum)
The belt idler pulley (typically on the base of the dryer under the drum)
Kenmore / Whirlpool dryers: Unplug the unit! Remove 2 screws under lint filter cover, grasp lid near the front - pull toward you and up - top should hinge up out of your way.
Reach in and unplug the door switch harness
Remove 2 screws found at the top / inside of the front panel either side
Front will now lift up and off
You should be able to see the idler pulley - pull it back & slip the belt off
The whole drum will now slide out
the 2 support rollers will be on the rear wall of the cabinet.

How do I take the top off the dryer?

To remove the top, look on the back of the dryer and remove the screws hold the top to the body of the dryer. Once the back row of screws are removed, the top can be lifted, start from the back. The top acts like a clam shell opening first at the back. As you lift, you will find under the lid push pins in the top that go into holes in the base that attaches the top to the base. Pry between the lid and the base and the pins in the top will pop loose. Be careful for the control wiring coming up from the base not to pull it out once the lid the free from the base.

I have a Kenmore Gas dryer model 11072702101 gets hot does not spin

Hi, Problem here is that your belt either came off or is broken. To get to it, remove two screws at vent. Take a putty knife and press in on the front left and right sides just under the lid. Lift up and prop. You'll find two more screws at the top of the front on either side. Remove. Front will fall out to you and lift up. Remove doorswitch wires noting where they came off of. NOTE FIRST, UNPLUG THE DRYER! Belt part number is 341241 at $20.38. To install, belt around drum, lay down with flashlite. Belt goes around motor shaft. Pull idler pulley back put belt over it and release. Reinstall cab. way you took it off. Hope this helps.

I cannot find the lid clips on my Maytag dryer MDG6000AWW to remove the top. Any suggestions?

The lid clips - if I understand you correctly - do not need to be accessed - you merely pry the front of the lid up by slipping a screw driver between the lid and the front panel - near the corners. The top will lift out of the clips and lift up - hinged at the rear of the dryer. I don't know the MGD6000AWW in particular, but there are many dryer belt repair videos to look at - all of which require that the top lid be removed. Have a look at these videos to get an idea of what I'm describing.

Good luck!

After I push start button sensing light turn on,but dryer does not work, just click.

sounds like you have a broken belt
first remove the lint trap
remove the 2 screws
unplug the dryer from wall
lift thhe lid
you will have access to the drum
is the belt still in tact
if you cannot see the belt that is you problem
another option open the door you have a door switch in the upper left or right corner
when you close the door, does the door hit the switch ?
if not you have a bad lid switch
which you can gain access to it the same way as the above to access the belt

Whirlpool Dryer LEQ9558KQ1

If you can hear/see the motor running, but the drum does not spin, you probably have a broken or loose dryer belt. You can easily determine this by opening the top panel and looking at the belt. Just lift the lint sheet cover on the top of the dryer and and pull out the screen. With the cover still open, locate and remove the two screws. Once the screws are removed, the top panel will lift up. The belt should be seen wrapped around the drum. If the belt has broken or has slipped off the idler pulley, it may be fitting loosely around the drum, or lying on the cabinet bottom. If so, the following instructions explain how to access the interior and replace or reinstall the belt. Replacing the dryer belt on this model dryer involves the following steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.
2. With the lint screen door open, remove the two screws and lift the top panel.
3. Unplug the door switch conector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.
4. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.
5. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.

You should now have complete access to the dryer interior. If the belt is broken, this may cause the idler pulley to come loose. This is normal with no tension on the pulley to hold it in place. To install a new belt and re-install the pulley, follow these steps:

1. Loop the drive belt around the dryer drum with the groove side facing the drum. (Try to line the belt up with the wear marks already on the drum from the previous belt).

2. With the tensioner in your left hand, insert the clip end of the idler pulley into the grooves on the dryer bottom casing with the idler wheel pointing to your left. (The grooves are directly in front of the drive motor.)

3. While holding the tensioner in place, insert the belt UNDER the wheel with your right hand and pull it up and over the drive motor pulley.

If this does not explain it well enough, you can also verify by going to repairclinic.com. Click on the Repair Help link and look for the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section on the next page. Look for Whirlpool and refer to diagram H.

Once you have the belt installed, re-install the dryer front panel by holding it as you did previously. Line up the holes on the inside bottom edge of the front panel with the small mounting cleats on the front edge of the side panels. This can be done by yourself, but an assist may make it easier. Once you have the front panel in place, lean against it to hold it in place and install the mounting screws. NOTE: Don't forget to reconnect the grounding wire and door switch connector plug. Without the door switch connected, the dryer will not run. Lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them.

If you still have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you. PS Appliancepartspros.com has some excellent exploded view diagrams of your dryer, along with parts listings that you cna use for reference as well.

How do you open the dryer to fix the belt

First before you you raise the top, open the cover on the back by the motor and let the belt loose from the motor pulley unless the belt has broken. If it has go to the lid. Slide a thin flat blade under the front of the lid and feel for the two clips several inches in from the corners. Push straight in on a clip while pulling up on the lid at the front edge and it will release the lid at that point. Do the other clip. Lift the lid. Three are usually two screws, one on each side holding the front tight. With the screws removed, pry out by each of the push clips on the side. The front should be come loose. Swing it away slightly paying attention to the wires to the door switch. Slide the new belt over the drum and work it to where it ran in the past. Put the front back on and snap the lid down. When putting the front on guide the front panel and the drum together at the felt seal. Open the panel on the back near the motor. Reach in and spring the belt tightener over and put the belt around the motor pulley. Let the spring tightener tighten the belt. Put the cover back on.
