Re: how to unlock from cingular network
There are cell phone shops that provide unlocking services for a nominal fee. There is unlocking software that will allow you to possibly unlock your phone using your PC. The shops that provide the service should/will guarantee success in unlocking them though.
If you want to do it yourself? Let us know and we can direct you to such software (though these softwares usually come with disclaimers stating that they could damage your phone, though if the instructions are followed to a T haven't damaged any phones that I am aware of).
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

If your Samsung is SIM locked then you need to unlock it. You can unlock it using codes. Unlock codes are provided by the network provider or online providers. Network providers may take a long time to give the code. At that case you can contact online providers like Mobile-Unlocker.com who give the codes quickly.
I assume you mean the phone is asking for a network code or password before the Start Menu is available, ie, phone can be used.
If this is so and it is asking for a network code, then you need a SIM card that matches the carrier the phone was designed for. If it is ATT/Cingular, you can buy a SIM card from the new ATT/Cingular network for $6. It is a pay-as-you-GO phone SIM, but once you have it, you can call ATT to as for a number xfer as well as a standard monthly contract using this SIM.
If it is from the old Blue ATT network, then it cannot be used on ANY carrier unless it is unlocked for use on ALL carriers. This would be noted witht the docs that came with the camera. If nothing says ATT/Cingular, and especially if someithing says ATT without Cingular, then it is probably an old Blue ATT phone. You can buy a BLUE SIM off ebay which will get you to the point of being able to use the phones functions, but it will not work to make calls until you unlock it and replace the BLUE SIM with another current carriers SIM. Sprint will not work either because it is not a GSM ATT type network. Cingular and T-Mobile yes.
Google phones model number and UNLOCK and you will find a way to do it yourself at no charge if you have an XP or earlier PC with a USB port. Vista OS cannot be used to do it with the downloaded unlock software. It is also very hard to find anyone that can do it selling Unlock Codes based on phones IEMI code.
If it is not a network lock message, then it may be the last users personal lock password. In this case, you can hard reset the phone by holding down both right and left softkeys while powering on the phone.
Like you being with T-mobile, I bought a cingular phone off ebay that wasn't unlock. My sims didn't work either. My network just said call Cingular which is now AT&T and they gave me the MEP code to unlock it. Beware, you need to confirm all of your information from your network before they will help you.
First need to find the IMEI for your phone. Power on phone
and type *#06# this will display the IMEI. You will need the IMEI to get the corresponding unlock code. Every phone has a different unlock code. Then call your provider and request the unlock code.
