Question about Sony KP-57WS500 57" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Sony KP-57WS500 I think this might be really simple. I can't play my DVD player or my PS3 on this television through the audio video input (red, white, and yellow). When I go to what should be "Video 1" It says "Satillite" on the screen. When I go to what should be "Video 2 it says "DVD" on the screen and when I get to "Video 3" It says "8mm". Neither of the corresponding inputs work. I have tried the devices on other television and they work just fine.

Im trying to set up my tv, it was given to me as a gift, my uncle was using it it works i can change the channels but when i try to work my dvd player with it, only the audio comes on the screen stays...

Hi,
Please few things...
1- Make sure audio and video wires are hooked correctly in AV input of tv and you selected that AV input in tv with its remote.
2- Also check your dvd has not been set on progressive mode if you hook dvd player through yellow-red-white wires with tv.
3- if dvd player is set on progressive mode, then hook it with tv by component video input, red-green-blue for video and red-white for audio.
Hope this info will solve your problem.
Thanks.

Hook me up, please!!!

Sure, the PS3 won't run at 1080p but 720p or 1080i will be fine use component video (Green, Red, Blue, + Red and White for audio, you should have 2 of these) for these they can support 720p or 1080i and should look great. Your dvd just connect with composite video (Yellow, red and White) it is really as good as you can get from a DVD anyway. Run monitor out audio (red and white) to the surround input on the DVD/Home theater system and you should be good.

Sony kp 51ws510 upgrade to HD - how to do this

There are inputs on the back of the set. If your tv is Sony 51ws510 then it is capable of HD, but you have to have component or DVI cables to connect the tv to the HD device (HD cable box or DVD player).

On your set the component inputs on the back of the tv are video5 and video6 in the middle located in a vertical line (red, green, blue rca video connections with red and white rca audio connections).

You also have a DVI input toward at the top of the input panel (white connector with red and white rca audio connectors).

Samsung HD Plasma - hooked up DVD to it but movies play in black & white??

anytime you connect componet signal (green red and blue)to regular video inputs (yellow) end will have same effect. make sure that if you are using component signal from DVD player you have to connected to component input in the set.
component signal will use green red and blue for video and red and white for sound.
Composite signal will be yellow (video)
red and white(audio)

Video inputs

How is this distorted? Does DVD only have Video/Audio jacks or do it have RF output connection and if so have you tried going inset that way? How does it looks with only Dvd Logo on? If Logo is ok then I would look for some other problem.
