If your VCR and TV has scart sockets then by connecting a fully wired scart lead between the two it will change to the AV channel of the TV. Pressing play on the vcr should also cause the tv to switch without pressing any button on the TV remote.

Hi. The DVDs work fine but I can't see videos only listen to them

Hi, I just looked your machine up, a DVD/VCR combo. "IF" the RCA or whatever you used (whoops sorry about the bold type), if they are attached correctly, I have a Toshiba DVD/VCR combo, and while you'd think it would be easy to hook it up on mine, it was not, double check your manual (I do not mean to be condescending, as I messed it up at 1st also), there also was an activate the vcr part button, and one for the DVD, which I always hit by accident.

On my machine as well, the VCR had to be hooked up on say TV's Video 1, and the DVD on TV's Video 2. Please don't hate me if you've already done this. I am sure you know that it's usually just some little darned (that says DARNED but looks like DAM you know what) thing, which I would swear "Was not in the book when I read it the first 17 times!" Relax, and you will be victorious!

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

good luck

Samsung 2333HD to dvd/vcr combo

Hi there,

On a DVD/VCR combo unit....the Component Output (RED, GREEN, BLUE) is exclusive to the DVD player section only (VCR can only output analogue source) and will only be able to view DVD.

To watch VCR, you will need to connect to your TV via Composite (YELLOW) cable, into the Yellow AV input on your TV. You can then tune the VCR section to match your TV's RF input (if you prefer this connection).

Good luck...

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

Poor viewing with VCR

how do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.
is this what is happening? or how are you connecting it?

DVD is wired to the VCR and does not work

The Sony Bravia should have a number of component inputs, so you should be able to hook up the DVD directly to the TV. The only reason for hooking it up through the VCR would be to record a DVD on VHS... but that's for the birds--VHS is old technology.

Each component input on the back of the TV has a number. You then select to view the component you want by pressing the remote control button to change the display (it should show with one you're on... e.g., Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, etc.).

Connect tv vcr and dvd player to digital converter box

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red, white, and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

Hooked up don't work

Hook the DVD Combo unit to the Video input of the TV. Not through your Dish Box. Then to View the DVD/VCR, switch the TV to the Video Input. Good Luck and have a great weekend
