One highbeam light was very dull like a semi broken wire, so i rewired the bad side to the good side it worked for a couple of flashes to test , high low beam , then no high beam lights at all, are they hooked through a seperate fuse, some kind of module, or something different, low beam works great with the switch but they do not comeon as driving lights any more since the high beams stopped working, their is also a blue light in the middle of my gages, on now, never seen it before, are not the high beams ran from wire split off into 2 at the grill, is it allot of work to replace the harness or does it go to a seperate part of the main harness, bulbs are good.

You have a wiring problem, look up cavalier headlight wiring on the internet, there is a harness connector under the battery that sometimes goes bad, or the wires are broken inside the insulation, usually in the front harness, the head lights hi and daytime lights are controlled through the ecm and low beam is on a separate circuit, i have also found problems in the switch or the drl module in the fuse box, any mor questions mail me

Highbeam lights very dull on 1999 Geo prism? Put new wiring plug(?) Any idea what the problem is? on and change dimmer relay with no luck! Ant

are you in USA.?
are you in Canada with mandatory DRL lighting?
we can not guess that,
DRL car is complex.
DRL has a 20 pin module just for DRL, crazy complex.
the FLASH on DRL grounds the HL directly bypassing DRL relay
so is super important the FLASH test.
There are 2 systems used, the toyota uses hot all time headlights
(via the HL relay and dimmer relay)

I need this?
is it dim on high, yes,
is it dim on low, no.
is it dim , when you push the lever to FLASH.??????
if flash works we know why it fails. see? (paths)
see?
if high beams and FLASH are dim, then DRL relay bad.
(can be other failures., for sure even wires bad)

its just a:
Toyota Corolla. Gen 6 to 8. (in snake skins)
if you have voltmeter this is child's play , really
finding point of voltage drop tells you what is wrong
find a shop with sparks guy? be best or by a meter and learn>?
guessing can take a long long weekend.
is labor time not a matter to you or down time?
ok I pulled up your cars HL schematic.
DRL is super complex
id pull the DRL module and look for burned pins
they love to do that DRL does.
so got DRL
and does FLASH work right>?

Right side high and low beam light doesn't work. Took the bright out and it touched metal and worked. Took it off the metal and it quit working. What is this and what can Iabout it. 05 Suzuki Forenza

first off, do you have DRL lights ? like all Canada cars do.????
do you? this makes the answers impossible.. if you say what you have. we can work your problem and show real schematics to match what you have,...
just right side dead.
does flash lever work on right, making highs go on, in FLASH mode?
did you look at the RIGHT FUSE YET?
your test proves the fuse is ok.

i too state wiring on right side is an issue.
conditions.
Posting (coin toss ) non DRL CAR !
this car has odd fusing, 3 fuses.
EF20 left low. (EF means engine bay fuse)
EF15 kiils both high beams.
EF 27 does right low.
there is nothing that can kill just right side, but wires
the g102 is bad. has to be, because the other 2 cant both fail.
but not checking fuses first. is folly, what if its a double failure.?
eg: f27 blew and c104 is rusty.... see?
i use this magic tool called a voltmeter.
got 12vdc on G102, bingo, ground is bad.

My durango headlight will not work on the right side

Well the turn signals are a different circuit.
Usually the common problem with one headlight is the ground circuit.
Both the high and low beam use the same ground. I would check for power for each circuit and a good ground at the light socket.

Left hand high beam headlight not working on 2003 Chevy S 10

Suggest obtain a good volt/ohm meter and trace out your circuits.
Sounds like you have a broken wire or loose connection.
Be sure to check ground wire connections too.
If you get very frustrated you could cheat and simply run a jumper from the good high beam over to the dud.
Be sure to disconnect the old circuit and attach a waterproof tag explaining what you did.

Bright lites not working

Go to Autozone.com for a free fusebox layout and chassis wiring diagram. Just register your car on the site and you can get this info.

You are probably looking at a high beam relay or the stalk switch. If you look at the wiring diagram, the flash to pass circuit likely bypasses the Relay for the high beams. Since the Relay is cheaper than the stalk, try switching the horn relay into the position of the highbeam Relay to test.

You can try to may the horn work with the switched relay or do it with the lights. Only switch the Relays if they have the same part #. If the relays are good, the stalk should be bad.

High beam on 02olds brevada

After checking fuse, buy a test light from local auto/hardware store. Disconnect highbeam (with highbeam and headlights on, and dont worry you can not get electricuted from it) wire put pointy end end of wire or in wire plug or harness and other end on a ground eg. - terminal on battery or any clean unpainted surface of car or engine. the light should come on, if not problem in high beam swith or power to the switch, use test light to see if power comin out of switch & goin in to switch.

Low beam dosent work. bulb is good highbeam works cant find fuse for lights. its not underhood

Hi,
It has been because the lamp bulb or halogen lamp module has reached the end of its serviceable life, not because of any wiring problems. Low beam burns out first because it is on the most. If low beam is lost simultaneously in both headlights, I would check fuse first, then the headlight switch. If low beam is lost on one side only, it is almost always going to be due to the bulb or lamp module needing to be replaced. In that case, replace them in both headlights because the other one will be going kaput in short order, as well.
Most like the low beam filiment is bad but the high beam filiment is still good, try replacing bulb. If replacing bulb does not fix problem then you probably have voltage problems and should check the voltage reading and the plug.
OR
isolate the wire that comes from the headlight switch to the headlamp bulbs for low beam and check to see if there is a short in the wire. You can find this wire by using a test light turn on the key and get a good ground with the test light poke the wire and see if the test light illunimates with the headlight switch on.
check the wires, and check the fuse for your lowbeams. could of blown a fuse on your lows, but your highs will still work.

The fuse box is located in the engine compartment,on the driver's side. Has thumb-screw retained cover.

No headlamps on 97 Mountaineer.

Buy 1 bulb and insert in each socket one at a time. If the low beam does not work on either side you know it is not because of the bulb. Then you will have 1 extra bulb for emergencies. Ask at autoparts about a headlight relay for lowbeam. When you wrote that highbeams work on pullback you did not say if they stay on high. You have "Flash to Pass" for highbeam which can be a different circuit. The automatic headlight switch is yet another set of contacts to go bad. You should set "auto" to off so you are not fighting this feature when testing. Good Luck

1994 chevysilverado c1500 i replaced my highbeam lights on my truck but still no highbeam what is the problem an how do i fix it

It may take some testing with a multi-tester. The problem is most likely eitehr a bad switch or broken wire. Check any connections to determine when and where there is power.
