Hi I have a Gateway fpd2485w that powers on shows gateway logo then the video cuts off. Every time I unplug the video cable from the monitor and plug it back in it shows video for a second and then cuts off. It appears that it won't hold a signal. Please help.
I'm pretty sure the inverter board is bad. you have to replace it if you can or you can let someone else do it. you should find some on ebay for about $80 (not too bad compared to the cost of the monitor: over $200). but its up to you. But first, you should find out if you are still under warranty. good luck. please rate!!

Samw exact problem. Shows Gateway logo and plays brief music then display goes blank but power and what I believe is an icon showing vga input stays lit (blue color).
it was working just fine till one day i turned it on and the gateway logo shows...and then for a split second displays everything then after that its complete darkness. The power button and menu button are still lit yet since theres nothing displaying you can't even get to the menu. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! i didn't even have this darn thing for a year
UGH, I have the same problem also. On plugging it in, the Gateway logo shows for about a second then goes off. If I disconnect the DVI cable, wait for the monitor to suspend, and then plug it back in, I'll get the desktop to display for about a second before going off again.
it happend to me for the first time today. i use the gateway fpd2485w monitor and when i rebooted, i got the gateway music vrom the monitor then "no signal" rgb, then a blank screen. i could hear through my speakers that vista booted up but i cant get my video running. im usin my laptop to find a solution, someone e-mail me at [email protected] if anyone finds one?
thanks, Jae
I am also having the same problem, if you turn it off and wait a while, then turn it back on, it usually fixes the problem, if that doesn't work the first time, I repeat the process until it stays on. I know this is just a temporary fix, I'd like to know the actual solution as well...
The off/on trick worked the first two times but I haven't been able to
get it to work again. I'm still trying to find the problem. I came
across a similar post for a Samsung monitor that exhibited the same
problem. The person said that the power inverter was bad. After doing
more research, it makes sense. The backlighting is fluorescent, which
requires AC. We know that the bulbs are fine because the picture comes
on for a second. I'll investigate more and post what I find.
whats even worse i gave up on it and bought another monitor this time Samsung. IT JUST BROKE ON ME AGAIN!!! SAME PROBLEM!!!!AHHH!!!! i just blew over 500 on 2 monitors already
