When I attempt to open a new message in my inbox it just says "messaging memory full, close some applications and try again". But I dont have any other applications open and when I move the message to another folder I am able to open it. How do I fix this?

you need to reprogram you phone install a new software to upgrade your phone, you cant open your messages in inbox because you reach the phone memory already, the memory was corrupted
Go your message setting. There is option where you'll save your message and choose save to memory card. Delete all message in inbox and outbox folder, delete all cache in your browser and close all active applications. Try to send text message. If the notification "Memory full" still appear you must uninstall a one or more application (not just close it but uninstall it) to make some space in your phone memory. Choose application that you don't use the most. If the problem persist, format your phone back to factory setting.

it will require your phone lock code which is 12345 in default.

This will clear you messages, even you saved ones. go Messaging>OPTIONS on inbox (the left key)>Settings (scroll down)>Other (scroll down)> Memory in use> then choose the option that isnt being used, either the memory card, or the phone memory.
