I had this old game African Safari Trophy Hunter on a windows 98 SE and it worked .Now I have a windows 2000 pro and when I click on the Icon the screen goes black and does not do anything. I had enabled the compatibility option and I right clicked the icon and switched to run in windows 98 compatibility and still nothing.

While the game does say it is compatible with Windows NT, it does not specify Windows 2000 as one of it's operating systems. Unfortunately Wizard Works was gobbled up by Atari and they have appearently ended all support for these old games. You'll have to use an OS specified on the packaging for it to work properly.

save the game BEFORE you enter the marsh? Use cheats? I'm stuck too. I'm trying to get unstuck using cheats. I don't think the official cheats are working so I'm going to try cheat engine. Hope that helps!

I cannot load trophy bass 4 to windows 7. it says needs 31mg of memory. new computer has 6gigs of memory. What am I missing? I'm a novice. Thanks

Hello, this is happening because the game is a bit old and can't report your memory correctly. To fix this you have to run the game in compatibility mode, follow these steps:

1. right-click on the games shortcut and choose 'open file location'
2. find the game's executable file, right-click on it and select properties
3. click the "compatibility" tab
4. check the box "run this program in compatibility mode" and choose "windows 98/Me" or "windows
95". Apply settings.
5. Have fun playing

I have the game Ricky mountain Trophy Hunter (which I love). It works on XP but not on my new vista OS. What can I do to use the game on Vista

Your first port of call should be to try to run the game in compatibility mode. To do this:
  • Right Click on the shortcut
  • Goto "Properties"
  • Then goto the "Compatibiltiy" Tab
  • Select "Compatability Mode"
  • From the drop down menu, slect Windows XP
Try starting the game. This should allow it to run. If this doesn't work try re-installing.

Can it be installed

well first are you running 32 bit or 64 bit win 7? there is a compatability mode on win 7 just like XP you right click on the icon that starts the game and go to the properties (does not work with the shortcut if you are on the shortcut there is a find target tab ) once in properties you should see a tab at the top that says compatability in there you can set it to 256 mode and to run like it is on win 95/ 98

My game won't open, it says "New GFXSurface failed...get tech support..."

for some old games you usually need some kind of emulator, basically this will allow you to run a game in an environment the game was designed for.

out on a limb here but i assume usage of windows vista.

Problems running Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3: TotW

hi I just fixed this problem on my computer. Here is how I did it. I have an NVIDIA video card and I right clicked on my desktop, went to NVIDIA control panel. Under 3D Settings, I clicked on "adjust image settings with preview". Under that setting my original setting was "let the 3D application decide". I selected the 3rd option "Use my preferences emphasizing: (Performance/Balanced/Quality)" Originally it was set to "Quality". I moved it to Performance and tried the game and IT WORKED!!!!!!! I am so happy! Also for me the "Balanced" option brings back the white screen.
Hope this works for every one who reads this.

Super scattergories

Microsoft Windows 98 was an operating system used on a majority of personal computers from 1998 to 2000. Because of this, there are a variety of games available to play on Windows 98, but are incompatible with later versions of Windows. If you have Windows XP or higher, you have access to a "Compatibility Mode" that allows your computer to play those games. Activating compatibility mode is a simple procedure.

Right-click the file that you usually click on when you are trying to start a game.

Select the "Properties" option in the drop-down menu.

Select the "Compatibility" tab, then check the "Windows 98" box.

Select the proper video mode for your game under "Display Settings."

Select the "Apply" button to save your settings, and select "OK."

Double-click on your game's file to begin playing the game.
