Using an HDMI cable on my 32" Olevia LCD TV I get no sound unless I reset the source to HDMI. Sound is fine until I turn the TV off. When I turn it on no sound unless I go thru the sources and select HDMI.......any suggestions. This does not happen if I use RCA cables.

Most of the time it will involve replacing the entire board that connects to the HDMI and outputs associated with it--not a cheap fix and good luck finding any board for this brand set.
What cables are you using for the XBOX and the digital box? What surround sound system are you using (what receiver)? Which model of Dynex 32" TV do you have? Looking at the DX-L32-10A, I can connect both devices to the TV and then the audio out to the surround sound system.
If HDMI, then that will carry the audio to the TV and then you would need an audio cable from the audio out on the TV to the surround sound speakers. Similarly, if you use component video and the audio cable combination, there are 2 component video jacks and 3 audio-in jacks on the rear of the TV. Then connect another cable from the audio out of the TV to the surround sound system. (This TV has one audio out and a headphone jack.)
If you previously had the audio going from the Rogers digital box directly to the surround sound system, you need to reroute things unless there are two or more sets of audio in jacks on the surround sound system. Some surround sound system can take several HDMI in cables and then route it to the TV on a HDMI out port.
Without more information, I can't be sure of the best option for your cables.
I hope this gets you started and please provide more information for additional suggestions.
Silly suggestion, but did you hit the "Source" button again a few times?
According to the manual, the "Source" button changes between the following long list of options: Tuner, Composite, S-Video, Component, HDMI, VGA, and VGA component. So you'll have to hit it 6 more times to come back to what you were using.
Olevia went out of business in 2008, so their website is defunct. Here is a link to what I believe is your manual on another website.
The first solution was to use the remote controls on the recorders and shuttle from 480p to 720p to 1080i.
The other solution was to run left and right audio cables from the output of the DVD recorder to the audio inputs of the tv. Then, go into the setup menu of the recorder and tell it not to output sound using the HDMI cable.
The first solution has to be done each time the machines are turned on for the first times of a day.
The second solution fixes the problem once and for all....
I have had the same problem with my daughters Olevia...232-S13 out of the blue ti just decides to not turn on...blue light lit where the on/off button located but no sound and no picture....i guess the saying "you get what you pay for" stands clear here.......very upsetting.....
First lets determine where the sound is missing. What are you using for sound. RCA jacks? HDMI cable? If you are using the HDMI cable, please make sure the correct sound is selected in the Cable box. In New York Cable Box, The HDMI sound has to be selected in order to get sound using the HDMI cable. Hoping that all other settings are ok, You may need a new signal board. Part Number BN94-00629R. Average Cost $176.14
