Re: Simpsom Washing Machine
First see that the exit hose behind the machine is at the correct height, before coming down into the wall standpipe or your sink. Your machine pump pumps water over this height, about 2.75 feet above ground level. Possible there is a water level height marked behind your machine.
If water flows out when machine is off, possible your inlet valve at top of machine is defective...............can be replaced easily.

it says the following:
Water leak in the tub or air leak in pressure-switch air hose
The washer fills for too long without the water level pressure switch tripping to indicate that the washer is full. Check for a leak in the wash tub. If the tub is not leaking, check to see if the washer is overfilling. If it is, check the air hose and water-level pressure switch for problems.

hi, the problem you are having with the "soak/prewash" light flashing after the wash has started is a common fault on the meile washing machine. Its a water sensor problem. remove all srews and bolts from front of machine and open the front panel. you will see a red in colour pressure switch at one oclock, there will be a black tube attached to it, remove the tube and replace it with a new one, or reverse the tube in reverse and you will find that the water intake level will be less and the fault of the "soak/prewash" light will no longer flash, problem solved. 0868887054 DAVID ASHBOURNE. top loading machines comes with a pressire switch to determine the water level.IT will fill with water till the switch is triggered to stop filling and continue with the next task of washing. there would be a rubber hose connected from the wash bucket to the pressure switch. Check for broken, leaking, bitten by rats hose or probably the switch it self is faulty, which is rather rare.
Although a few modern washing machines can operate with the drain pipe at any height, most machines will drain the water as soon as the drain pipe is placed below the machine water level.
The simplest solution for your problem would be to ask somebody with some handy man skills or hire a plumber to add a 2 inch PVC pipe to your drainage pipe which extends to a point behind your washing machine & then points upwards, making sure it is long enough to be at a higher point than your machines fullest water level. This should be a relatively inexpensive alteration & will ensure that water does not drain unless the machine is on its drain cycle.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Best wishes, Graeme
If I got the issue correct the washing machine is leaking specially from the in front of your top loading washing machine.
Leaking water from a washing machine usually comes from hoses or
connections. Be sure that water appearing to be a leak isn’t drain
water from a backed-up standpipe. To prevent potential flood damage,
which can occur if washing machine supply hoses burst, be sure to
install “no-burst” stainless-steel mesh hoses and lever-type shutoff
valves, as shown below. With these, you can easily turn off the levers
for both hot and cold water between wash days.
1) Check the fittings where the hoses connect to the faucets and to the
back of the washing machine. Also look for worn or leaky hoses. Tighten
couplings or hose clamps if needed, or replace the hoses altogether. Be
sure to turn the water off before removing the hoses, and drain them
into a bucket after disconnecting them.
2) Determine whether the machine is overwashing, which can cause the
machine to overflow. Reduce suds by pouring 1/2 cup white vinegar in 1
quart water into the washer. Then switch to either less detergent or a
3) The machine may have a faulty basket gasket or tub seal and bearing
that must be replaced; in this case, call an appliance repair person.

Is the drain hose installed correctly?
If you have connected your machine to a
sink waste system, make sure that you
have cut out the membrane from the
under sink drainage system.
Ensure that the drainage system,
standpipe or under sink connection is
free from any blockage.

the cause of your problem you will
need to run the machine through a
spin only programme.

I had a similar problem. We has placed the waste water hose into an old tub next the machine. The plug hole int he sink has become blocked with lint. When the washing maching was pumping water into the tub, the tub would fill with water, which would rise a level higher than the washing machine waste hose. What this appeared to do was cause the machine not to be able to properly pump out water, leaving this horrible back stuff in the wash which would end up all over the wash. Ensuring the plub hole in the tub was clear solved the problem immediately!
