Oven won't come to temperature

I have a Maytag mer5775qaf and we are having problems with it heating up (the oven). When I preheat it it isn't coming all the way up to the selected temperature. I preheated it last night for 2 hours, wanting a temperature of 350*, and it never went above 225*. What to do?

Sounds like you may have a bad bake element. can you see hte bottom bake element??? if not you can lift the oven bottom to reveal the "hidden bake element". eitehr way, the elemnet usually looks bad upon closer inspection. theres aburn hole in it or its completly broken. perhapseven a white powder plume from where the element went bad. if thats the case, its an easey enough partot replace yourself. 2 screws and2 wires.POWER MUST BE TURNED OFF FIRST LIVE WIRES AT ALL TIMES TO BACK OF ELEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oven takes forever to preheat

The way the oven works is like so:
1) User sets the desired temperature
2) Power is sent to the ignitor
3) The ignitor is then energized, drawing 3.2 amps of current
4) When the 3.2 amps is drawn, the gas safety valve is allowed to open and gas flows into the burner assembly in the oven.
5) This gas is then ignited, causing the oven to heat.
6) As the oven heats up, the oven sensor, which is the metal rod located at the top on the rear oven wall, converts the heat into an electrical signal, relaying this information to the main control which in turns displaying the temperature.
(In models with a dial thermostat, there won't be a sensor, though a metal wire with a bulbous end will be present, which is actually connected to the thermostat.)

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

On a Maytag range, what does F3 mean? When I try to preheat the oven, F-3 appears, it beeps, and then shuts off.

F3
or
F4 Shorted or open oven temperature sensor (RTD) Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

The oven does not maintain the heat displayed. If I put cupcakes into the oven, or rolls, to bake at 350degrees, they are still not done after an hour and a half. The temperature displayed is what I have...

This sound like you have a faulty thermostat module. The digital temperature display is giving you a false reading. Your best bet is to purchse an in oven thermometer that will give you a more exact reading until the thermostat is replaced. Good luck and happy cooking.
