Acer desktop 90 days old

Wed. Embarq having server problems, no email service. Thurs. logged on no internet connection. Embarq said they had no problems, call Acer manuf. Ran me through various tests computer still showing no connectivity. told to call Embarq back, they ran me through several test, determined that network adapter was not accepting IP assigned to call Acer back. Called back & now I'm to return to manuf. Is something I can do that would be less time and cost of shipping?

I can't connect to the wireless Internet despite

Borrow other wireless adaptor, then plug it to your desktop. Try to connect ...but U must install the adaptor driver too. If it works, that means your internal adaptor is out of work.

If i connect my laptop to the internet via wireless or lan capble,it wont browse.pls what can i do?am using acer with window vista home basic.it stated last weeek.

Hi,
this might be the result of incorrect network interface card (NIC) configuration. This is what you should do. Each time you connect to the net and the network icon comes up in the taskbar, (the low bar at the desktop where you have the battery icon and others) right click on the network icon, select properties. In the properties menu, select
internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4), tick the check box beside it if it's not ticked. After selecting it, click properties below. A second menu pops up. Set the ip address to: obtain an ip address automatically. Set the dns to: obtain dns server automatically. Click ok on the two menus to close them. After some seconds you should be able to access the internet.
Hope this helps

I have a WNDR3700 V2 - Internet & wireless working fine. Email not working. Any ideas

If your internet connection is okay and you connect to your email is thru your web browser, (http:// or https://), the problem isn't with your router. Its most likely either a problem with the email service or you have a virus.

What email service are you using and what is the exact problem (can't login? can't access the website???)

Two toshiba laptops, one less than a year old running win7...the other 3 yrs old runnign xp. both worked fine connecting wireless to my router sat. sun the win7 machine said the dns server was not...

Did you press a button (or move a slider-switch) on the WIN7 laptop, to "disable" the wireless adapter?

Can you login to the web-server "inside" the wireless router, and look at the "log-files" that the router keeps of "recent" events (such as connection-attempts from wireless devices), to see if there is any useful information in those logs?

Does the WIN7 laptop connect to _any_ wireless network (Starbucks, university, shopping mall), or does it fail ONLY when connecting to your wireless router?

Have you tried a "factory-reset" on your router, just in case that it might be the problem?

Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible...

When you "logon" to your local network, your computer is configured to fetch your "desktop" (My Documents and wallpaper and everything else) from a "server" computer on your network.

Was your "logon" to the local "domain-server" a successful login?
Does your local Network Administrator indicate that the "domain-server" is functioning properly?
Does that server's log-file show any error-messages, such as "not allowed to login between 10 PM and 6 AM" (a "security" setting on the server).

Since your "desktop" could not be loaded from the domain-server,
your computer has used a "local" copy of your "desktop",
and it is warning you that any changes will *NOT* be "merged" back to your "network" profile.

Have you contacted you local Network Administrator? What did she say?

Making my old desktop wireless

You should just be able to use a USB Wireless adapter. Personally, I like "Linksys" brand the best.
