The remote for Panasonic TV cannot be used to control your NEC TV. For this you need a programmable remote control.
For example visit this site to know more about Universal Remote control. The UniversalRemote can be programmed to control TV, DVD etc. The procedure is givenin the accompanying manual.
If you do not want to invest in a universal remote then visit this site to purchase an NEC replacement remote.
Please try to understand that you cannot simply use any brand of remote to control any other brand of TV; only a universal remote (or a replacement) will help.

Some TV brands have multiple codes associated to it. You must try each one individually until one of them does the job.
This worked for me beautifully on a brand spanking new Philips 42'' LCD.
