If the blue ring on the AC IN is lit, there are some things you need to check to see where the problem is.

1: Does the computer come on with the quicktouch buttons?
2: Does the computer come on using the remote? Verify the remote battery is good too.
(point remote at Digital Camera and press power button, you should see it blinking in the viewfinder)

If the blue ring does not light up. Check Adapter
If using a generic adapter and the power light on the adapter goes out when plugged into laptop- it is a shop repair.

Another item that could prevent from coming on is the ribbon cables to the power section, but that is only if the laptop has been opened and attempted repairs previously.

Go to HP's support site, download the autodetect program. Then the site will detect your machine profile and you can the download the sound drivers from a list provided for your machine.

by doesn't fit, do you mean gives you a microsoft verification error, such as "this driver is not verified by Microsoft."?

If that is the case, let it install anyhow. HP knows better than Microsoft whether the drivers will work.

Might be that your laptop fell off or hit something which must have damaged the dvd/ cd drive. You have to replace the drive sorry.

Before you go thru all that, HP has an extended warranty for 6 and 9K units with Video and Power startup problems.
They have added an extra year to the original warranty and it would be to your benefit to check first.
Email customer care and issue a repair request.

disconnect the power adapter 2) disconnect the battery too 3) Press the power and hold the switch button power by 60 seconds. Then proceed in reverse and Power again and can be fix it.Of course if the problem remain test the memory from your pressing the key f2 or f9 depending of your modell in the reboot and go to the test memory.

Hello.The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.If you move/wiggle the hp pavilion dv6700 power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.Hope this helps.
