Question about Maytag M7DH45B2A Dehumidifier

1 Answer

My dehumifier is leaking. The collector pan is fine. I took the covers off and could not detect anything. It is pretty simple...air blows by the coils, condenses, collects and runs into the pan. Looks like everything is ok, but it still leaks all over the floor. Any ideas

TRY IT ON LOW FAN SPEED AND SEE IF IT LEAKS , MAKE SURE IF THERE IS A HOSE OR SMALL DRAIN PAN UNDER COIL   THAT IT IS CLEAN AND FREE OF DIRT .SOMETIMES ON HIGH WATER IS BLOWN PAST DRAIN PAN AND DRIPS ON FLOOR , THIS MAY BE A BAD DESIGN. IF THERE IS A FILTER CLEAN IT

Dehumifier blows out my electrical switch in my electrical panel.

You definitely have an electrical short in the unit and should stop using immediately. Have it checked out by a licensed electrician. It is a very real fire hazzard.

Fan runs but no water, I suspect refrigerant leak, coils are clean, so is filter

My experiance when I ask my Heating and air conditioning guys when they were out serviceing my home air conditionion was a resounding NO not cost effective these units are practically considered throw away, with no value after 3-5 years no matter what price range and this is true. They say the cost is purchacing and adding the valve needed to refill. Just another prime example of total waste and disposable world we live in.

Kenmore dehumidifier runs but won't collect water

Hi,
If you haven't done so already, try removing and cleaning the inlet filter screen which is almost certainly just behing the inlet grille. It may slide upwards out of the casing or downwards unto the bucket area. If this is blocked with fluff then no moist air will get to the cold pipes, so little or no water will be extracted. There's also a chance that the humidity sensor is clogged with fluff, so fooling the system into thinking the room is pretty dry, in which case the compressor will probably not run.
A running compressor can usually be detected as a deep throbbing from the machine. If it is running, but not cooling the pipes behind the intake grille, then you may have lost the refrigerant from the system via a leak. If the air coming out of the machine is warm (caused by the compressor running) but there is no water produced this may be the cause.

Explore along these lines and let me know what you find.
Cheers, D

Dehumidifier does not collect water

The only thing you really need to check is that collector coil that the the water is supposed to condense upon, much like the "sweat" on a glass of ice water. If that collector coil is not nice and cold, then your machine needs freon or has some other serious problem.
