Compressor will not stay on.

I have a 5 ton Intertherm split unit. The compressor will kick off after 4 minutes of operation. Unit is blowing ampient air. I think it may be low on freon. Unit is 5 years old. What could be possible problem? Not sure what model it is. Data plate is missing.

Very good possibility that it is low on freon. If indoor unit is blowing ambient air, not cooling is happening. If this is the case and you are sure the compressor is running and then shutting off, the compressor could be overheating and the internal overload is taking out the compressor. If outdoor fan runs and compressor runs, probably cause. If capacitor is bad, unit would most likely not run that long. While unit is running, feel the large line at the condensing unit. If it is cold, and stays cold, could be something else going on. If stays warm, most likely low on freon.

Auto/On set to ON. Fan runs.
Sounds like the thermostat, the way to verify is to unplug indoor unit, remove thermostat, take pic of wiring with phone or label the wires as to the terminals. Carefully twist the yellow,(Y) Red (R) and the green (G) together. Plug the furnace back in, if the unit operates normally, replace the thermostat. I am basing this on the fact that the blower speed is changing. This could also be an anomaly within the circuit board in the furnace section, not likely though as the outside unit (condenser) is not controlled n by the indoor board unless this is a heat pump. hope this helps. Make sure all of the pressure switches are closed on the low voltage control circuit on the outdoor unit. If any are stuck open, the compressor will not kick on. Or just push the compressor contactor in with an insulated screwdriver to ensure the compressor does actually work.

The condenser unit will not kick on...it is a concord unit,10=12 years old,13 seer,3 ton. The air handler works fine. I thought it was the capacitor. The old one was bad,I verified that with multimeter....
It could be a low refrigerant cut-out (switch), grounded or shorted motor windings, open internal winding overload protector (check at the common winding), a broken conductor, or no power at condensing unit from blown fuses or open/tripped breaker.

Intertherm heat pump blows hot then cold then hot
You may have a problem with a temperature safety system.  Before changing anything else, check to see if the unit is clean!!!  Dirt/dust can fool the safety system into an overtemperature status.  Inspect the heat coils for damage and dirt.  Gently clean.

The 55 terminal is marked "herm" it goes to the start winding of the compressor. The 5 terminal is marked "fan" it goes to a wire from the fan motor. The common terminal goes to one side of the power line...The side that is NOT going directly to the compressor.

Hitachi Soleus split Not blowing cool air.
if the freon is 410a the pressure must be 100-120psi,if it is 22 the pressure must be 45-55psi.you unlucky because hitachi havent problems with compressors.is it inverter the unit?if it is you must check the outdoor pc board,if the 4valve clicking in the you must replaced it propably has stucked.
