I got lucky with my cyberpower 1000. Found that the black wire from the outlets to the board was not tight enough. Squeezed it a little with my pliers, and it works now. Don't worry about the on-plug falling out, you can push it in from the outside when you're done.

May ups some times shuting down and it alarmed fault ligth red

Hello, it is possible that the battery inside the UPS needs to be replaced as it may no longer be able to hold a charge. If you can test the battery for voltage, and it is less than what it should be, replace the battery. If the battery is what it should be, then your UPS has malfunctioned, and there is not much you can do to fix it.

Thanks for using FixYa!

We have a APC Smart UPS 2200XL. We had a power failure last night and now all six lights in the front (AVR Trim, On Line, AVR boost, Overload, On Battery, and replace battery) are flashing at the same...

The light pattern indicates the batteries need to be replaced. The typical life of UPS batteries is 2.5 years, after this time the cells will not hold the proper charge. When your power when off last night the UPS would have tried to switch to battery power but it most likely failed after just a few minutes as the batteries shorted. The UPS has a protection circuit that prevents it from starting up properly with dead batteries so you get the flashing lights and the unit shuts off. The batteries are available in most cities from car battery dealers, not like Wal-mart but battery only dealers, just look in the yellow pages for batteries. You can take the old batteries out of the unit by removing the front panel and unscrewing the metal plate just behind the front cover. The old batteries are connected with a wiring harness that plugs in. Just bring the old batteries to the dealer so they can get you the correct replacement part. The new ones should be less than $100 so it is well worth the price compared to a new unit.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Turned off my system

Well, it did just what it's supposed to do, protect your system from bad power. You probably had a power failure during the thunderstorm and your UPS shut down your PC. When you turn it back on the battery was too low and it shut off you PC again.Check your UPS software in windows, you should have an option to run a self test. But it should be just fine.

The simplest would be to connect the power supply to a motherboard since this is where the on/off switch is also connected. The power supply needs to be triggered on before it will operate. Plugging in power from the mains is not enough.

Alternately in most PC power supplies, you can try force triggering to turn it on with just your fan and lights connected. This is done by shorting the Green (or Gray in some) wire to the GND (black) wire on the biggest connector.

In most modern power supply designs, it needs a load across the +5V rail (latch on) to operate otherwise it will power on but then immediately switch off when it senses that there is no load connected. Sometimes this can be defeated by shorting the Orange (Power Good) wire to the Red (+5) wire.

A word of caution, some old Dell power supply as well as a few other brands do not follow the standard wiring color coding

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things worked out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Hope that
