cheers, It may be a NW protocol/switch/router/driver issue. I print to my 8000s on USB 2.0, since the 8000s has no Gig E. But I had a few problems trying to connect to the Remote UI on separate network card with dedicated address. So in the end I left printer with dedicated address and plugged it into my el cheapo NW switch. The remote UI connected straight away via browsers URL to printers IP address. This way I can move files amongst mailboxes and rename them etc without affecting the print spools flowing via USB. Crossover cable should not be needed either on a modern device, since it should be more intelligent and realize the direct connection, auto switching pairs as needed. If you really need to drive 8000s on NW then I'd remove driver and try setting printer IP first via LCD, then forcing Garo driver installer to search and find the printer IP when re-installing its Garo driver. :-)
Connect to the web UI by using a browser and going to it's IP address. Once connected (as admin to the copier) there should be a counter page, or Report. It's been too long for me to remember right now. :)
then you need to login on your router. connect to it with the routers ip address and login with usr: admin and pwd admin, then go to system and change password.
You can connect your expander to your PC via ethernet cable and then assign a static IP address on your PC.
To assign a static IP address, just double-click on the monitor icon on the lower right hand corner of your PC and then view status and go to properties. Look for TCP/IP v4 and click properties.
Select use the following IP address:
192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0
and then click OK.
After successfully assigning an IP address to your PC, let's test the connectivity by going to command prompt.
Go to Start>Run>and then type cmd and hit Enter. Once you're on the black screen type ping 192.168.1.240. If you get replies then your good to go...
Let's now access the Web UI of the you Wireless expander. Open a browser and then type on the address bar 192.168.1.240 and then hit enter.
It will prompt you with WRE54G's username and password. Just type the password to login to the Web UI. The default password is admin.
Once your on the Setup page, you have to configure your settings exactly the same as your wireless router (e.g. wireless security, IP address range) except for the SSID. You may want to change the SSID on your WRE54G for you to easily identify where your wireless computer is connected.
You can leave the WRE54G's IP address to 192.168.1.240 if your wireless router's IP address is on the same range like 192.168.1.x
Then on the Gateway address type your router's IP address. If you're also using Linksys the default IP address usually is 192.168.1.1
Then you can configure your wireless settings same as your router. After that, same the settings and see if the light on the WRE54G becomes BLUE. If yes, then you're good to go! You can unplug the PC from the WRE54G and then set your PC's IP address back to Obtain an IP Address Automatically. See static IP address procedure above.

I can help you configure your expander manually instead of using the CD.

I cant find the sending guide which I have in print, you will need that as the most important piece, but basically if you know basic email account setup, you should be able to go through data registration button on main panel and under system settings-> network settings I believe enter SMTP IP address of your internal email server. Another avenue for this would be to ask your ISP if they relay email for static IP subscribers. Qwest does and you might be able to point the fax directly to the relay but I haven't tested this (in lieu of the in home hmail server).
The scanning is based on scanning to email. It isn't really controlled from the computer like a typical scanner is. The settings are all on the panel of the device. They are resolution, Contrast, and Doc Type. From there, you have to configure the machine t send the scanned image to an email address. The email address requires that you have the device setup for email with a network address, smtp server, etc.
Hi dreaddymck
I need a little more information on the setup. Is there a router in your network? If there is, is your PrintServer connected to the router and your computer is attempting to connect to the printserver through the router? If there is no router and your PrintServer is connected to your printer via the USB port and your computer is connected to one of the ports on the PrintServer via a cat5 cable, I would check to see whether you are actually communicating with the PrinterServer by pinging its IP address from the computer. If the ping is successful, then I would look at the printer properties in your computer's printer control panel and check the port configuration. Usually it is shows the IP address, port 9100 and port protocol is usually set to RAW. Otherwise I would attempt to reinstall the PrintServer using the CD originally provided. It appears to me that the server may not be publishing its IP address on your network.
