Re: Hoover Encore Supreme belt replacement
Remove the bottom plate that covers the brush roll and remove the roller. The plate is removed by releasing two clips at the back corners of the plate on either side. Take the roller and install the belt around the pulley and put the other end of the belt through the access hole in the vacuum body. Replace the roller and turn it by haand to ensure that the belt is not pinched. Replace the bottom plate and turn the roller again (same reason).
If you look at the area beside the rear wheel between the hood and the main body, you will see a clip incorporated into the hood. Take a screwdriver and pry it away from the main body. Do this on both sides. You will find a similar clip at the hood just beside the back corner of the plate in the front where the plate clips are located. Pry these as well and hood will come loose. Now you can turn the machine back on its' wheels and remove the hood. You will see the belt where it comes through the main body and you can grab it with a couple of fingers and stretch it onto the motor shaft. Replace the hood and the job is done.

Turn the machine over - locate the clamps that hold the cover on and open them. Fold the cover forward toward the front to expose the "belt alley". Lift the roller brush from its cradle. Place the new belt over the pulley on the brush and over the end of the motor. Put the brush back in the cradle. Replace the bottom and re-clamp the snaps.
You may want to clean the hair and string from the brush while you have it out.
http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=728341 Generic problem for all Vacuums I have a Hoover Vacuum Posted by Jimbob48 on Jul 01, 2008 I have a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner, Runabout Supreme, on which the belt has broken. I purchased a new belt, part number 38528-040. I need some instructions on how to install the replacement belt? Thank you.JBS Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Usually there are screws, clips or levers on the bottom of the vacuum and you need to either remove the bottom plate and once you have taken the screws, etc. out the top cover will come off. And then you can proceed with the removal and the install of the new belt. 1st you need to remove @ least one end of the Hoover brushroll and take of the old belt and slide on a new belt. Once the belt is on the pulley side of the brushroll; then re-install the brushroll. Make sure that the brush is spinning freely B4 you install the new belt, then take a belt puller or a screwdriver with a left or right hand hook to use as a belt puller and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, then take and roll the belt until it is tracking straight and then re-install the top cover and or the bottom plate, tighten down the screws, levers or clips. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.hoover.com Telephone Contact our Customer Service Department at 1.330.499.9499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead. Take the bottom plate off, the brush roll and belt are there. the belt goes around the brush roll and hooks to the motor shaft. If you can't get to the motor shaft, then you will nee to remove the top cover also.
I'm more specialized in Kenmore vacuums, but I believe there should be 2 screws at the bottom of the vacuum. You will need to remove these 2 screws to be able to remove the bottom cover. Once the bottom cover is removed, you should be able to access the belt and agitator.
You can try thehooverstore.com, or call a repair shop and I am sure they can order for you. Doubt that you will find a (#56511A01)manual tho. The hose part #43434268 and will sell for around $15 to $20. Dusting brush #43414145 $8 to $10. Extentsion tube #38634678 about $5. Furniture nozzle #38614029 about $5. Crevice tool #38617024 about about $5. Hope this helps.
If you can't see the motor shaft then you will have to take the top cover off. Some have a couple of scres to remove from the bottom. Then is a slot on each side, from the bottom put a flat blade screwdrive in the slot and push out and up to release the locking tabs. The knob may pop off so watch for that coming off. Put the belt on the brush roll, then feed the belt up thru the opening and stretch it to go over the motor shaft. Put back together.
