HOw do i reset my computer to where its practiclly new?

Restoring an HP computer to factory settings requires that you do a system recovery.
There are two types of recovery for HP computers: destructive and non-destructive.

Destructive recovery will reformat your hard drive, destroying all data and reinstalling the operating system and additional software according to the factory configuration.

Non-destructive, or "system," recovery will repair your Windows installation, replacing any damaged or missing system files and restoring the registry to the factory setting.

Non-destructive recovery is the best option if you are unable to back up your user data before running system recovery.Restoring with CDs

Back up all crucial user files if you are able to do so.
If your computer will not burn CDs, use flash drives of 4GB or higher to store your data.

Alternatively, you can use your network to transfer files.
You can then back up your data to CDs at your leisure.

Detach peripheral devices such as removable media drives, USB drives and your printer before recovering.

Also remove any additional hard drives by disconnecting the cable from the back of the computer.
Leave your monitor, mouse and keyboard attached to the computer.

Shut down your computer.
Place the first recovery CD in the CD drive.

If your recovery files are written on a partition, you may be able to select system recovery from the splash screen and your computer starts.
Select the recovery option you would like to use.
To perform a destructive recovery, click the "Advanced" menu option.

Select "Destructive Recovery" and click "Next."
To perform a non-destructive, or system, recovery, click "Next" from the opening screen.
Watch the computer while it is recovering to the factory settings.
Watch for any errors, as the computer will wait indefinitely for a response from you, slowing down recovery time.

Also, you may need to insert additional recovery CDs as the recovery program requests them. Restoring With Recovery Manager

Click the Windows "Start" menu, type "Recovery" in the Search field and press "Enter."
Click "Advanced Options," choose "System Recovery" and select "Next."
If you are prompted to use Microsoft's recovery program, select "No."
Choose the option to back up your files, if you haven't done it already.
Once that is complete, choose "Next" to begin reformatting the drive and returning the system to factory settings. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/How-do-I-RESTORE-my-system-to-the-original-factory-settings/td-p/50113

Need to system restore my acer aspire ax1700 but do not have disc whtat can i do

When a vital file becomes corrupted, it might be necessary to restore a computer to its original factory settings. This process also cleans up the hard drive and removes old programs that can make a computer slow and unresponsive. But, because restoration wipes away all files you've installed or created, it should be a last-ditch effort in trying to repair a computer. If you've reached this point with your Acer laptop or desktop, the manufacturer provides a utility to restore the factory settings.

Open the Windows Start menu by clicking on the icon in the lower left corner of your desktop. Click "All Programs," then the "Acer" folder. Select "Acer eRecovery Management" to open the utility. If a Windows prompt asks for permission to run the program, click "Yes." Click the "Restore" button in the pane on the left side of the program window. Click "Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults." Select the "Yes" option in the dialog box that asks you to confirm the action, and click "Start." Click "OK" in the second confirmation dialog box to restart the computer. Click "Next" in the warning window that appears after the computer reboots. This confirms that you realize restoring the computer deletes any data stored on your hard drive. Click "Next" again in the Restore Destination window, and click "OK" in the popup that gives you one last warning about deleting your data. The restoration process will begin. Click "OK" when the utility lets you know that the restoration is complete. The computer will restart, and Windows will finish the recovery process.

Im trying to restore acer aspire sa80 mmx1 to factory settings plz help

if you press [F12] or [F11] or [Alt]-[F10] one of them should get you to launch the Factory Restore wizard....your manual does not say which key it is....'course if it is old enough, it may not HAVE a Factory Restore partition on the Hard drive, and then you'd be out of luck...unless you get the Factory Restore CDs from Acer, that is.

How resstore my acer aspire to factory settings?

There should have been a recovery disk created or included when you bought a laptop. Insert disk if you have it and restart your computer with the recovery disk in the CD drive. Make sure all your documents and personal data are backed up. When the computer restarts it should start restoring your computer to the factory default. There will be a wizard to guide you through the process. If there is not a disk, then follow this steps:
1.Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives. Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive.
2.Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook.
3.Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load.
4.Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5.Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted.
6.Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

hope this helps,Goodluck..

I need to restore my Acer T690 to factory setting. The acer had problem booting so I used windows XP bootable disc and it had replaced the operating system. I have recovered my data. Now I need to restore...

Assuming the Recovery Partition hasn't been disturbed, boot the machine and press ALT + F10 at the same time. You will enter a recovery phase that will give you the option of restoring to factory settings. If the Recovery Partition HAS been either disturbed or wiped out, you will not be able to restore to Factory Settings without a set of disks from Acer.
