Sony SDM HS73 ''turns off''

SDM HS73 ''turns off'' sometimes. It is absolutely stochastic. I use '''' because I'm not sure whats going on. Toggling the off-on button rarely helps- it comes on for a second and blinds again. BUT : if I connect remotely to this computer (RDP) - it wakes up!! (and I get there the login screen)and this is absolutely shure, I tried it a number of times. Power/screen saving on the computer is turned total off. Does somebody has an explanation?

What I'm wondering is: how is RDP affecting the monitor - RDP can not change the wrong soldings or4 blown caps... and it wakes the monitor ALWAYS!

One thing I know for sure on this model HS73/HS93 is that the backlight assemblies failed due to poor soldering works. This may the problem with your monitor.

It is very time consuming repair works that I doubt very much if repair shop will do the work.

When you use Remote Desk top, the monitor that is connected to the remote computer does not need to be on, I controlled server computers (5) from home to do update and back up, the servers are connected to KVM and with one monitor, one keyboard. May be you should try this monitor with other PC, if it does not come on, then you need to open it up or take it to the repair shop.

Does the monitor work with other PC?

Sony sdm-hs73p LCD blacks out

Common problem in the HS73/93 is bad soldering works in the lamp assemblies, see my pictures here:
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Sony%20SDM-HS73/

But look for bad caps (leaking/bulging top) first in the power supply section.

No input signal, go to power save sony sdm-hs93

I f you see the message on the screen indicating 'NO INPUR SIGNAL', you need to check the VGA cable and both ends of the connectors also. Try this monitor with other PC also.

This SDM-HS73/93 have common problem: bad backlight assemblies due to poor workmanship in sodlering works, see my pictures below. You should also inspect the caps. This is not recommend for DIY.

Hello!Sony SDM-HS73 power-inverter problem

At this point you may have bad transformers, bad tuning cap, you need to check the frequency of the inverter oscillator to see if both of them are running at the same frequency, the bad one may not be. The Inverter/power supply is not made by SONY, Powernet makes the board. Please see what went wrong with the one I fixed.

One thing to keep in mind, when the board turn into carbon (blacken), it will conduct. The circuits operate at high voltage and high frequency.
