Question about Televison & Video
I have a Vivitek 56" DLP HDTV, which I've had for a few years now. My cable box has always been connected with component cables to the COMP1 input. I just recently realized that I was only getting 480p resolution with this connection. I always thought the picture quality was decent, so I never thought much about it even though the tv is capable of 1080i.
I'm now using an HDMI to DVI cable connected to the DVI input on the tv, but I'm still only getting 780p resolution. I also noticed that I can no longer change the widescreen format with this connection. It's set to "dot by dot" and on most of the non-HD channels the picture doesn't fill the entire screen. When I was connected with the component cables, I had options like "stretch", "s. stretch", "zoom" and a few others that I can't remember.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can the full 1080i resolution and maximize this tv's potential.
