Connecting a ps3 to a deskktop

I don't know if the PS3 will accept a wireless signal from the keyboard because it should've come with a bug that is connected into the pc so that you can even connect to your PC. I would use a USB keyboard just incase you do get your wireless connection and it corrupts your wifi connection or anything with the PS3.

try opening a portal from you router to your ps3, the router will shut down all the things it need to in order to play your games more efficiently. If that doesn't work try hard wireing your ps3 to your router. If your getting online on your ps3 wirelessly then try moving your router or your ps3 closer together.

you have to use a router to connect to a wireless connection unless the usb works but get a desktop router then all you need is your network key wack that into the ps3 and hey presto your online :)

if you setup your wireless in adhoc mode like useing the pc wirless it wont work because ps3 doesnt see adhoc wireless.

and for the ethernet connection is the pc setup right. you have to enable internet sharing on the accuall interface that has internet..
If local area connection 1 is connected to internet and local area connection 2 is plugged into ps3 then under local area connection 1 settings you have to set share this connection and in the drop down menu select local area connection 2. other than that you need to buy a router.

Put the PS3 into standby mode (just red light on)

Hold the power button down on the front for 10-15 seconds. You will hear multiple beeps.

Then, when you turn the PS3 on, it's display will be reset to the default settings.

to do this you would need to enable your pc with ICS (Internet connection sharing) and connect an ethernet cable from your pc to ps3. You will need windows xp or vista to do this.

Should you need either a network card for your pc or ethernet cable these can be cheaply found on ebay.

However your PS3's connection to the internet will be dreadfully slow and will most likley have extremely bad lag when playing online.

SSID and Security settings need to match in order to connect.

Try matched SSID with WEP/WPA disabled first.

If that works, then you can move forward toward enabling WEP/WPA as you wish...

your ip settings are most likely wrong, check your desktop pc settings

here is how

start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig

note, ipaddress, subnet, gateway

if your desktops ip is similiar to 192.168.1. 2 to 254
then set your ps3's ip as 192.168.1.25 for example
just a number between 2 and 254 (the 1 is used by router) witch isnt used.

your address might show 10.0.1.20 for example or a more complex ip like 86.32.55.100 if this is the case set the ps3 on automatically get ipaddress and dns server.
