Yes, they will wear out, but it is usually after a whole lot of uses. Are these pictures from a digital camera? If your camera can still read and write to it, it should still be fine. How are you connecting your SD card to the computer? Through the camera? Through a card reader? Please be more specific so that I may be able to help you better.

I would like to download pix from my Oregon Scientific camera Model DS6618 onto my computer, but the tray that a disc goes in on my Computer is not wolking and I cannot upload, download any drivers, etc. ...

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I have an older DVD player. COBY DVD-404. I downloaded pictures from my camera to my computer onto a DVD-R disc and then again onto a DVD+RW disc. Neither disc would play on my player. It comes up on...

Your 'old' DVD player is the problem. It is unable to 'read' picture files. Time to put the COBY away and upgrade to a DVD player that can read .jpg, .jpeg images. Most new players do and they are not that expensive.

How do I download photos from my Canon Power Shot A510 onto my computer? Can I download JUST the photos I want to see, or do I have to download all of them? Thank you

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

You should also download ALL your pictures to your computer. You can delete those you don't want to keep. Then format the card in the camera. If you instead keep deleting some and shooting more, eventually you WILL have problems with the card.

Pictures will not upload to laptop.

I had a similar problem recently - the computer wasn't even recognising that it was plugged in. I eventually took the battery out and charged it up, then later it worked perfectly. I hope this is helpful to you.
