Question about Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 Notebook
It will continually start for about 1 sec. and shut off, it will do this until the battery is dead. I cleaned the fans, and heatsink, it does the same thing?.Any ideas.
My Toshiba Did the same thing yesterday and I fixed it.
With battery installed and Laptop Off:
I held down the Power Button for (20 seconds)
I let go and it booted, finally got the screen to come on and (knock on wood) it hasn't restarted yet.

I use a toshiba satellite A35-S159, tht's what i'm using now and i have experienced this twice in the past. the pc shuts down then restarts, shuts down after a few seconds, stays off for a few seconds, then comes one again, shuts down after a few seconds, the cycle goes on and on until u either remove the battery or the battery dies. first time this happened i removed the cdrom and battery and put them back at the same time after a while. second time this happend, took the whole laptop apart, down to the last screw then tried to power on just the board, it picked and i coupled everything back.
the two times this problem happened, i was the caused. the first time, a screw dropped inside the laptop cuz i had the laptop on and was unscrewing it, so it bridged something. the second time i removed the cd rom and fixed it back while the system was on (playing music). lol try not to laugh.
hope this was helpfule

Try putting a virus checker on a CD and booting from it. You dont say whether you have checked for viruses. This behaviour is a very common side effect of virus activity. Sometimes bad or poorly seated RAM can cause this too.

Do you know how to disconnect hd? try disconnecting it and booting without it... of course without battery first and with battery and no ac adaptor then... if the problem persist, go forth disconnecting all you can except the basic stuff ofcourse if you go that way you shall isolate the problem... evidently the computer fails when it tryes to reach some bad hardware...
but if the problem you have is that the computer reaches operative system and then restarts... things are different... just gimme more info please... gluck

If it does the same thing when it's plugged in, it might be time for a trip to the service center.
