Dishwasher arms not spinning

Our dishwasher turns on runs it's cycles but the arms that spin around will not spin to clean the dishes. We have well water and wondering if the hard water deposit have something to do with it. We cleaned it but was wondering if there is something else that needs to be cleaned to help it run.

After a regular dishwashing cycle, our dishes and glasses are not getting clean. They are left with a white film. We have checked and all holes in the spray arms are open. We have tried a rinse agent,...

Hi

Please check if something is blocked near the top spray arm, also make sure that all holes are open. Use a sharp metal pin to clean the holes on the top spray arm. Make sure the water pressure is not low.

under the screen and you'll need a Torx screwdriver to get to it after you remove the spray arm and screen. Check to see that the path it travels is clear. I have seen these get blocked up by stuff.
Now check if the top arm spins freely and check the bearings for the arm, if they are producing extra friction while the spray arm spins. White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine.
Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more assistance.

Dish not realy not clean leves film on them same soap as alwayes

Hi. Check that the arms are spinning. Something maybe jamming arms like a knife or fork sticking below the basket hitting arm or check that the jets, particularly the end jets are not blocked. Easiest way to check if spinning is to rotate arms into a known position and start a cycle with dishes in machine. After say 1 minute open door and see if arms have rotated. Cheers. Slavious

Dishes in top rack do not clean. both upper spinners do not appear to be spinning when running. They spin by hand but not spin on their own during cycle.

The dish washer is taking ages to wash and it not clean ing dishes well

ok so If your dishwasher has worked fine in the past but, suddenly, your dishes aren't clean after the dishwasher completes all cycles:
1) Check your water heater's temperature dial to be sure it hasn't been changed recently.
2) Be sure dishes haven't prevented the detergent dispenser from opening properly during the wash cycles or kept the spray arms from turning, the lower arm from rising, or the spray from reaching the upper rack's dishes.
3) During the wash cycle, listen to the spray arm spinning inside. If it seems to be spinning poorly, clean out the spray holes in the spray arm(s) with a stiff piece of wire; wait for the machine to cool, and then remove the spray arm(s) by unscrewing the hub cap and lifting the arm(s) off

Top rack washer arm isn't spinning and therefore not cleaning dishes in top rack, bottom works fine

You can replace the whole top assembly. And before you run the cycles again, try putting a cup of Tang (dry) orange juice through the cycle without any dishes or get some Dishwasher Magic and you'll have a sparkling new dishwasher once again! hope this helps you!

The arms do not spin and no water is going through them

Switch to a brand name powder detergent like Electrosol or Cascade. Never use ultracheap, generic DW detergent powder in any dishwasher. Run a load with dirty dishes and see the results are.

If cleaning results remain poor open the sump area by removing the lower spray arm and the filter assembly. Remove all debris in and around the sump area. Inspect the impeller down there to make sure it is not broken and that it spins freely. Clean the filter well in the sink. Reassemble. Also, check all spray arm holes for blockage.
Run a load of dishes and check cleaning results. If problems continue, you almost certainly have a failing wash motor and replacement is your next step.
Post here is you would like more assistance. Good Luck!

Will not clean

I had the same problem with my Kitchenaid dishwasher. It would fill with water, heat up, and sound like the motor was running just fine. However, the bottom dishes would be poorly cleaned and the upper dishes would not be touched. Fortunately, my repair did not require pulling the dishwasher out from under the counter. The repair was done within the wash cavity.

I completely drained the water out of the dishwasher (if it hasn't ran through it's cycle). Use a turkey baster if necessary. I Removed the lower wash arm, upper arm supply tube and then started removing plastic cover parts until I worked my way down to a part called the "Chopper assembly". Torex screwdriver bits were necessary in my case.

The chopper assembly is a small metal screen, a metal blade and a plastic drive rod that spins the metal blade.

In my case, the plastic part of the assembly was broken and the chopper was not spinning. The screen was plugged with food junk and water could not get past the screen to the wash arms. the spinning blade also ads a little pressure...when it spins.

the part is $21 online, but may run $30 at a local parts store.

Dishwasher not washing

By chance have you cleaned the spray arm out lately? There could be something blogging the water from getting into the arm. In most dishwashers, the arm only spins because water pressure makes it spin.
