if you are using phone A which has the pictures on it and they cannot
be opened, then you probably will not be able to retrieve it.

your best bet would be send it to computer [maybe IR? or blue tooth?] then from there to your other phone.

I received a GE model no. 27956FE1-A as a gift over a year ago. I put some pictures on the digital picture frame then. Now that I want to add some, I get a message that the pictures are not compatible. ...

I have discovered the problem
There is two things. First that the memory card used cannot be more than 2 GB and second that each image file cannot be larger than 2 MB. My photos where much larger than this and I discovered in the manual that it "hints" to pictures being 2 MB in size, I re-sized my pictures and no longer received this error. hope this helps.

I need to set up my phone for picture messages (w580i)

To receive Internet, MMS and Pic Msgs. You need to get the settings from your Network Service Provider. They are probably available as a download, direct to your phone, on their website.
MMS doesn't always work between networks.
