i bought my camcorder 2nd hand no instructions was with it is there anyway i can download to a computer please thank you for reading this

I HAVE A JVC DVC - GR D270AG. I CWANT TO EDIT HOME MOVIES. ICONNECTED THE DVC WITH CABLE TO USB PORT. ONCE I WANT TO CAPTURE, A MESSAGE COMES UP STATING THAT THERE IS NOT A CAMERA CONNECTED OR SOMETHING CONCERNING THE DRIVER. IN SHORT - I CAN NOT DOWNLOAD VIDEO FROM MY DVC TO MY PC
