I have the above model and the picture keeps on getting darker and darker. What is the problem likely to be and how much would it cost to fix.? Would I be better off just buying a new TV? It is 8 years old and has been very good until now Any idea?

We replaced the lamp on our pr61lcx65 rear projector panasonic tv. We still have colorful spots and now it is getting darker and have yellow on bright picture and red on dark picture running through it. Please help.

P.S. 33uF 160V capacitor from www.mouser.com is 82 cents plus shipping in quantity one.
P.P.S Kids are disappointed we aren't going to upgrade to 52" LCD this week.
First off I think you meant Panasonic PT-51G44A which is an AP815 chassis. That unit has an all to common failure of the capacitor at C581 on the D board which is a 33uf/160v cap. Replace it and I think that will solve the problem..
