Question about Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines

Service a pavoni hand espresso machine

I have an old (approximately 25year old ) hand operated Pavoni espresso machine. It needs to be cleaned and the gaskets need to be replaced.
Can you recommend a good repair person in Brooklyn or Manhattan?

La Pavoni Lever Machine Hissing?

Hi there,
If you have a La Pavoni lever model espresso machine and the safety assembley on the top right hisses while the machine is heating up, all you have to do is use something hard but preferably not metal or too large and tap the safety assembly quite firmly but not to hard and this should stop the hissing. This is because inside the assembly there is a bung on a spring and sometimes it becomes stuck and just needs a gentle tap to free it up. If it doesn't stop hissing then you can remove and stretch the spring or if needs be replace the spring and bung.

Espresso comes out of comes out of spout before handle is raised

Hi there, i am Mr La Pavoni and am based in Glasgow, Scotland. I service and repair these machines all day every day and basically it could be a couple of different things. If it is pre 2000 then it could either be the piston gaskets or the piston shaft has come slightly unscrewed from the piston head. If it is post 2000 then it could be any of the above but also in these models there is an additional sleeve inside the group head which may be cracked or the seal on this part may need replacing. It could even just be a tiny bit of debris on one of the piston gaskets. If you have removed the shower plate and gasket and then taken out the piston assembley then you should really replace these gaskets anyway. You can purchase the parts on my website www.theespressoshop.co.uk which are all individually priced and every part is available for the lever machines. If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to get in touch at domesticespresso@live.com

My Pavoni Pro started leaking water from its base. It doesn't let steam escape, and it still makes espresso, but water leaks out slowly I guess from the base (like 1 cup per hour or so). Is it a gasket or...

You most likely need a boiler gasket

The machine makes a loud whistling noise when we try to make a coffee?

The coffee solenoid valve can cause such a problem if it very old you must replace it
or the water pressure pump if the bypass it stuck and it produce more pressure than 9-10 bars no need to replace just clean or adjust the bypass.

My La Pavoni Europiccola "exploded" this morning - I think it is the heating element. Is that a common problem - how expensive and easy is it to fix the machine?

Hi there, i am a domestic espresso machine engineer based in Glasgow and i specialise in La Pavoni machines. If you could get in touch with me at my e-mail address (coffeeservice@live.com) i will be able to help you but i will require some info from you about what happened. It sounds like a pressure problem or the thermostat has gone allowing the water to over boil and build up too much pressure. Pressurestat is most probable i reckon. If you give me an idea of what happened i will be able to help you. I work alongside the UK's lead supplier of La Pavoni spairs so have all bits in stock. E-mail me or give me a buzz on 0141 425 1083 and i can sort you out.

On a La Pavoni europicola which way do the piston seals get installed, both the same way or opposite to each other?

Normally on lever machines the top seal sits with the cup area(slash in gasket) facing up and the bottom facing down.
