Fanu,
problem is simple to get rid of.
Enter your bios & disable the Full screen logo found in Boot settings. the 510 splash image is part of the bios.
If this is not what your talking about than give me another description of your problem.

Good Luck & have a great weekend!
Mike

I think it is more than likely your hard drive is the problem, you get the splash screen and everything is working up to that point which tells me the motherboard is fine.

You can fix this by popping in your windows disc and booting. You could repair the whole installation which would take 45 mins, or use the recovery console to fix the files within a few mins.

Repairing through recovery console:

> Type exit to get out of the console and exit the installation and reboot. The above should fix files needed to boot.

Turning on my gateway 510 x PC I get a black screen/white cursor

Did you make any changes recently (add memory, etc.)? Does it make any beeping noises on startup? I've had this problem occur when putting in the wrong type of memory. If you haven't added memory and there is beeping on startup, find the manufacturer of the MOBO and you should be able to find a beep startup code to tell you what the issue is.
