Main load failed error

I recently purchased a refurb Sansa c250 mp3 player. But when i turned it on I got some type of "main load failed" error (or something like that. I called SanDisk and was told how to get the player to start. OK It started and i was successful in loading the music, but i notice if left in off position overnight. I get the same error message when i turn it back on. I tried to load the Sansa Updater file, but I got a message saying my player was in MTP mode and needs to be in MSC? What is the difference and how do I chance from MTP to MSC. And how do I fix this load error problem? Please help!!!

I have the same problem. When it was turned on, it showed"Load Main imag failed, Connect USB to recover", then it freezed. This happened again and again to my refurbished C250. I took out the battery and put it back , then truned it on. It started normally sometime, and some time it failed. I did it gain until it started.
It's very sad! everything is ok except this. Helps are appreciated.

The difference is that when you have your device on MTP mode, its recognize as a Portable device...You cant modify the settings on MTP mode...When its on MSC mode, its recognize as a disk drive...thats when you can modify the drive files..to change the mode..go to menu, settings, USB mode and there you should find the MSC and MTP mode..Hope that helps

My son's c250 shuts itself off after a minute.

Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Sansa c250 or e250 mp3 player

the price is pretty similar, the size would be my main concern. The e250 is wider and heavier then the c250, but the interface and the scroll wheel might be worth the extra bulk, if size isn't an issue, and you wanna be able to play videos then the e250 is the one. if you want something small just for music on the go c250 is your toy.
