The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

MONITOR IS BLACK, POWER LITE IS ON, I CAN HEAR COMPUTER SOUNDS

By computer sounds do you mean the sound of fans and hard drives spinning? If there are no loud distinct beeps indicating a startup error (See Post Beep Codes), then I would check the following.

I'm assuming you mean the power light on the monitor is on. If that is the case then it is one of two things.

  1. The monitor is not set to the correct input source.
    • Make sure you go through the monitors menu and select the input. Example
  2. The video cable to the monitor has a bad connection.
    • Make sure the cable is connected properly
    • If repositioning the cable differently restores the image than the cable is most likely failing. Try replacing the cable with known good one.
    • If the cable is good it could be a problem in the jack on the monitor or the computer.
To repair this would require disassembling the monitor or computer and replacing the jack.
However, most computers and monitor have more than one type video input/output. Try the other input/output jacks. Example

Tried my 5LS on 2 differrt computers, monitor

Its probably an inverter fault, you may just be able to see some things bit its very dark.

I would check out the cost of repair against the cost of a replacement, new or second hand. It may be best just to dump it.

Installed new video card, GeForce 6200, but my Impressions 7LS Monitor now displays distorted and repeated images. Are they compatible? How can I restore my display?

Open up your tower and take the little flat battery out for ten minutes put it back in and power up your pc and this should put your monitor back to how it was.

Monitor is in sleep mode and I here a beep periodically

Try change the keyboard, if the pc does not detect the keyboard or a key from the key board is stuck which gives something like tic tic sound. On the other hand the display from monitor "sleeping mode" indicates the VGA cord is faulty or monitor is no compatible to the PC's video card.
