Our Magic Chef microwave oven won't heat anything. It had been working fine for 2 years. Out of nowhere, the microwave doesn't heat the food. It runs fine - but when you open the door after the time is up - the food isn't hot or even warm for that matter. Any thoughts?

I am pretty sure that is a very old microwave...for example it was original equipment on a 2005 Recreational Vehicle.
I am assuming you have been using that exact microwave for many years, so you are familiar with its use.
If it is constantly displaying "3.5" as you say and someone has not just partially input a Time and forgotten to Cancel the Input then it sounds like a printed circuit has gone bad...

If all controls on the panel work fine but the microwave does not heat, then either you have a defective door switch, the smartboard is defective, or you have a defective magnatron. Most likely one of those three.
