Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Moving a whirlpool side-by-side

I want to transport a 3 year old Whirlpool 2 door side-by-side refrigerator on its back. The time involved should be about 30 minutes while in transport. Is this safe too do? Will any harm come to any of the components?. All internal parts that may move such as shelves will be removed for the road trip of course!

I would appreciate any guidance on this as a Google search has several conflicting answers.

This model has no protrusions or refrigerator coils on its back, all such parts are beneath the machine.

Thanks in advance!

Steve

Just do not crush any cooling lines in the rear of it.
I would put foam rubber or styro foam in the bottom around the compressor if it is a very bumpy ride.
When you get it to it's location, do not plug it in until it sits upright at least overnight so the freon can settle.

hi ,
your freezer cabinet need to get all out and open the back wall.
  1. you have 2 element that can be check one is the heating element , two is the thermostat.
  2. you need a volt meter to check them.
  3. if the frost is all over the coils then one of the element i told you before, is bad
  4. if the frost is in one area not all over then you got gas leak.
  5. good luck

Refrigerator is too cold and freezes food.

Good day,
If the machine is under one year old, all working components are under factory warranty. Call for warranty service from selling dealer, or if you moved out of the area, an authorized Whirlpool warranty dealer.

Nowater from dispenser new frig..

If it's new (under one year old) then it's Whirlpool's problem.
Call your selling dealer or Whirlpool factory service.
Should be a free call.
If over a year, post back.. Jack

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator ice dispenser

First pull out the ice bucket and close the door.  Set for cubed ice.  Press the button for ice to come out and listen for a loud clunk noise.  That is the sound of the solenoid.  You can open the door, hold the light switch and press the button and watch for the solenoid moving up and down.  Solenoid is at the back of the freezer in a little square opening where the rod on the ice bucket goes into.  If that solenoid is moving ok then put the bucket back in while the solenoid is in the down position and cubes should work.  If solenoid is not working then it will need to be replaced.  Let me know what you find.
