What does it want you to sign up for, an internet service, or is it something else..
Is it trying to activate windows.
Do you have a legal copy of windows installed.

Hi

are y ou on your own laptop now
can you get onto the internet using a ethernet wire from your laptop into your router
if so have you tried all the windows updates
this may find and update the wireless driver for you

you could also try to un install it from your device manager
then re start the laptop
windows may on start up re install it correctly for you

have you looked on the official website for a windows 7 wireless driver

or you could look on the realtek website they may have a wireless driver for you

Hi, the gateway is your cable modem, so if that 3rd laptop can't find the gateway, it can't make its way out onto the Internet. Do you know if you're using DHCP (to automatically assign IP addresses to your computers)? If you're not sure, you probably are, and all you'd need to do to fix the problem is to open a command prompt on that laptop with the problem (in Windows XP, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt; in Windows Vista or 7 you can just type "command prompt" into the search bar) and at the command line, type "ipconfig /release" and then, once the command completes (which might take a minute) type "ipconfig /renew". This will force your laptop to re-acquire its IP address, complete with subnet mask and default gateway address.
An alternate way to do it is to right click on your wireless icon in the system notification area of the taskbar and select Repair. It will accomplish the same thing as above, but Windows will do the legwork for you.
Hopefully that should fix your problem. If not, leave a comment and we'll go from there. Good luck!

My neighbor who has a Toshiba laptop computer is unable to sign onto the internet using my wireless. It does not even bring up my wireless as an option. Can you help us with a solution

If your neighbor cannot see your wireless network then he is most likely too far away from your wireless router to get a decent signal and therefore signing onto your network won't help at all..

How do I connect to laptop when using a sierra Wireless Key?

On your laptop, enable "Windows Internet Connection Sharing", and run a "crossover" (not "straight-through") Ethernet cable from your network-port to the WAN port on the router.

Then, your laptop becomes an "Internet gateway" for the router.

Looks like you may have a few different problems. Right now you cannot get your wireless laptop to see your router, correct? If this is a newer laptop for you, then the problem may be too simple. On the new hp laptops above the keyboard are light indicators for sound, volume and wireless connections. They are also buttons. The wireless one is on the right of the volume control. You turn your wireless on and off by pressing on the light. It should turn from a yellow/orange to a deep blue. Blue is on, yellow/orange is off.

Leave feedback if this was the problem. Otherwise leave more information just about the wireless setup.

Acer Aspire Computer

Hi there.

This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to default settings, but before you perform this remove power from the modem and router for 2 minutes reconnect power and wait another 2 minutes for them to settle down.

What i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "uninstall" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again.

Good luck

Belkin wireless security

plug a laptop straight into the router with a cable. then open an internet browser and type in 192.168.0.1
type in the username and password. the default will be admin for username and password for password. then close the browser and unplug the cable. it might detect wireless internet after a few seconds. if it doesn't, it is possible that you have a PC set up as the internet gateway for the laptops or something, so when you introduce encryption the laptops can't get access. in which case you should go to your wireless icon on the laptop and click that and open the connection list. double click on the wap secured connection and try to connect. it should ask for a username and password, which you have secured the wireless encryption with. enter that and it should connect to the gateway.
dunno if this helps, good luck

You will need to download the drivers for the wireless card from Gateway's support site. Try the wireless drivers, under network, at the link below. If these aren't the right one's, then back up a page and have the site automatically find you machine. After finding it there will be a list of drivers, the wireless drivers can be found under networking.

Are you trying to connect the laptop using wireless? If so, you probably don't have the wireless settings from your router setup on the laptop. If you have a Windows based computer, click START => RUN.., type CMD, then hit OK. A black DOS window will appear. Type IPCONFIG and hit ENTER. You should see something like this:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.xxx
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Open your web browser and type in the address you see next to "Default Gateway" (in this example it's 192.168.0.1). This *should* be your router. Hit ENTER and you should connect to your router's web interface. From here you can find your wireless settings and match them on your laptop.

Laptops also usually have off/on switches for the wireless feature. Check to make sure you have the wireless card actually turned on. That is a simple mistake people make.

I hope this somehow helps.
